Ward is staring at defeat when facing another break point but the Arsenal fan digs himself out of trouble once again, and Querrey has converted just four of 16 break points so far.
Querrey is cranking up the serves now and, one nice Ward drop shot aside, it's all going the American's way. We're all agreed this tie is going down to the fifth rubber, right?
Ward thumps a forehand long and wide and then double faults, which is not ideal. At 30-30, he nets a backhand and it's a potentially decisive break point to Querrey... and Ward swings a backhand wide. "He just donated that game," says John Lloyd on BBC Three. "Querrey didn't have to earn the break. It was just sloppy."
Querrey ignores the PA system making a brief interruption to play a brilliant game that includes two searing forehand winners, and after two hours we head into a fourth set.
Ward does his bit with a straightforward hold that puts the pressure on Querrey to serve out the set.
A blistering forehand winner and a second drop shot in quick succession get Ward right into this game. Querrey has a couple of chances to take it, playing a dreadful forehand on one of them, but the American hangs on.
Another gritty game from Ward, who recovers from 0-30 and saves break points, and comes up with a second-serve ace on his way to the hold.
While a nation scrabbles for the remote control and switches over to BBC Two, Querrey resumes normal service and holds.
The wires have worked their way loose somewhere and Ward is back in the rut where he began the match, but he battles his way out of trouble from 0-40 for the second time.
Querrey angles away a backhand volley and consolidates the break with a strong hold. In a little over 10 minutes, the set has almost gone for Ward. "It's not like Querrey is playing any better, that's the frustrating thing," says John Lloyd on BBC Three.
That's a gift for Querrey as Ward frames a forehand and then double faults to offer up two break points, before smacking a backhand wide on the second.
A lob and a winner help the momentum stay with Ward until 30-30, but two missed returns let Querrey off the hook.

"If James Ward gets though this one, it's almost game over. Even if the Bryans win, there's no way on earth Andy Murray is going to lose to Sam Querrey on this surface."
Querrey double faults for the first time today, and Ward has a break at 2-1. Querrey then plays a good point to set up a volley that he mishits over the baseline, but Ward finds the net twice and they change around at 3-3. Querrey nets a volley to drop serve once again, and a Ward forehand that looks to be heading out just dips onto the line - 5-3. Querrey nets a backhand, set point to Ward... and the American fires a forehand long.
Ward wins the first point but Querrey hits back with four points in a row to force the tie-break.
Ward is doing OK on his serve too, guaranteeing himself at least a tie-break. "He's played well in this set," says Ross Hutchins on BBC Three.
Querrey is totally dominant on serve at the moment, making 78% of his first serves and having dropped just three points in five games.
Ward is right in this match now, holding serve to 15 with a thumping cross-court forehand winner. A bit of Motown fills the largely empty arena during the changeover.
