    Since that defeat in China, Murray has found a groove he has been scratching around for all year.

    Back-to-back tournament victories in Vienna and Valencia were followed by textbook dissections of Julien Benneteau and Grigor Dimitrov in his first two matches at the Paris Masters.

    The trouble is the rivalry has been running in one direction recently.

    In their last seven meetings, Andy Murray's only victory was that glorious day in the sun at Wimbledon 2013.

    Just four weeks ago Djokovic put Murray to the sword, 6-3 6-4, straight sets, bish bash bosh to make the China Open final.

    Born a week apart, they first met at a junior event in France in 1998.

    Murray left home for Barcelona to develop his talent, and, around the same time, Novak Djokovic departed his native Serbia to train in Munich.

    Both turned professional and climbed the ranks together - Djokovic made the top 100 in July 2005, three months before Murray, and the top 10 in March 2007, a month before his rival.

    They have contested four Grand Slam finals - winning two each, with Djokovic shading the head-to-head record 14-8.

    It is a rivalry that will run and run and run and run and....
