More quotes from Heather Watson's coach Diego Veronelli. He tells BBC Radio 5 live: "There are a lot of good things to take from this. Right now, she said she didn't play well enough in the big moments.
"The difference was very little and we will watch the game over and try to fix anything we need to."
Heather Watson's coach, Diego Veronelli, has been talking to BBC Radio 5 live. He says: "I'm so proud. There are a lot of positives to take but it is hard to talk. I felt she deserved to win but you have to win the last point.
"That game at 3-0, if she had taken it and gone 4-0 then that would've been crucial, but once it was 3-1 Serena got back into the match.
"We both said before the match that we don't just want a decent match, we want to win. Heather has been dreaming of this day since she was 11 or 12 years old - to play the world number one on Centre Court and she was right there, but right now it's hard to speak."
"Super, super close"
Williams 6-2 4-6 7-5 Watson
Heather Watson: "Maybe I will reflect on this more positively in a few weeks time, but maybe not.
"I am disappointed that I did not achieve my goal of making the second week of a Grand Slam. But I was super, super close and after the second set I played very smart."

Heather Watson: "I know how I'd play if I played her again. I wish I could have played one point differently to see how it might have changed things."
"Best atmosphere I have ever played in"
Williams 6-2 4-6 7-5 Watson
Heather Watson: "I was not handling her pace very well at the start and I was not sticking to the game plan I had although I don't think that she let me to be fair.
"It was the best atmosphere that I have played in at Wimbledon. I didn't get tired during the match, that is one of my strengths and I tried to use that.
"I got use to the feel of the ball off her racquet - it was hard and heavy - and hopefully that will help me when I play her again."
'I can compete with the best'
Williams 6-2 4-6 7-5 Watson
Heather Watson: "I had chances and it was so close with points that could have gone either way but when she needs to hit a winner she does it.
"But I've learned I can compete with the best in the world."
'I'm disappointed'
Williams 6-2 4-6 7-5 Watson
Heather Watson: "I was two points away from winning that match so I am pretty disappointed. The atmosphere was fantastic and pushed me on, but I just wished I could have closed it out.
"I wouldn't call losing the greatest day of my career. I am pleased that I gave myself the chance to play the best in the world and gave myself the opportunity to beat her. I didn't take it, but I hope the experience will help me next time.
"She had a lot of free points on her serve."

More quotes from Great Britain's Fed Cup captain Judy Murray.
"After the first set was so one-sided, Heather's backhand was world class and she can take a lot of encouragement from that performance. Hopefully it will spur her on to greater things," Murray tells BBC Radio 5 live.
"I hope she can get over it quite quickly as this was the first time she has been in such a position against the best player in the world. But if Heather is realistic, she will use that to her advantage and say 'I can hang with the best of them'."
Great Britain's Fed Cup captain Judy Murray has been talking to BBC Radio 5 live. She says: "It was an amazing match. Heather was blown away in the first set and Serena was serving big and hitting big off the ground. But Heather dug in, there were a lot of drop shots and short balls and she disrupted Serena's rhythm.
"To be 3-0 up in the third and serving for the match, I think Heather will be devastated to not come away with a victory as she was so, so close. But it's such an encouraging performance as she never gave up."

Barely a square metre of grass is available to plonk your backside on Heather Heap. In fact, there's barely a square inch on the concrete slabs which surround the plush water features at the top of the manicured slope either.
Subdued atmosphere though - the home fans know that Watson is battling the odds.
"Serena's just so big," exclaims one man. "And Heather is so tiny." The casual fan is putting this contest down to brute force and genetics.

Serena as focused as we've seen her at Wimbledon in recent years, marching between points, hitting as clean as a jet-wash, chewing up the Watson serve and spitting out the bones. First set gone in 25 minutes, and that mountain just got an awful lot steeper.

119mph on that serve from Serena - you could break concrete with that. Swinging backhand into the Watson forehand corner, and too much on a forehand into the corner. Watson unable to get a finger-hold on the mountain that is the Williams serve.

Good pluck from Watson, landing her first serve, hitting the lines with her forehand, forcing Serena into two errors. "Let's go Heather, let's go!" yell the Anglophone Aussies, all chant but no name now Lleyton Hewitt has chased his last Wimbledon lost cause.

Trouble now for Watto, two break points down as a forehand goes wide after Serena smashes away a volley at the net. Mmm, punchy forehand down the line to save one, but Serena's moving on to to this mid-court forehand with a glimmer in her eye - crashed past Watson's flailing backhand, and that's the first break wrenched away.

"If you love Heather Watson, clap your hands," sing the Aussies, giving Centre Court the air of a cub camp after one too many eggy breads. Yes Heather, an ace down the middle. Williams with a forehand onto the tape, but her backhand return is on Watson before she can adjust her twinkle-toes, and that is frightening power off the Williams backhand - Watson barely twitching as the second serve comes back at her like a cruel boomerang. Better first serve, on the board to raucous applause.

Huge task for Britain's Heather Watson here, coming eyeball to eyeball with a woman who has won 20 Grand Slam singles titles, five of them on this very court. Watson has never before made it past the third round of a Grand Slam tournament, but miracles do happen - there's a load of Aussie fans down there who are trying to start a mass singalong in honour of the British number one. Hands across the ocean.
Former British tennis player Greg Rusedski - and advisor to Heather Watson - on BBC Radio 5 Live: "Heather Watson has had a great Wimbledon already. All the pressure is on Serena, she is going to have a patriotic crowd behind her. She has to enjoy the experience, keep the contest close early on and she has a chance. The mind plays a key role, have to find a way to get those nerves out because everyone is going to be nervous."

Belinda Bencic is big business. Maybe she isn't - I just said that for alliterative purposes. But the 18-year-old Swiss could be one day. Martina Hingis's protege is tipped to be a future Grand Slam winner, showing her huge potential by winning Queen's last week.

Arsenal fan James Ward briefly breaks off to talk football with an onlooker. He has apparently received an "unbelievable text" which I think was Gunners related, although he did not go into details before returning to bang down some serves.
One advantage of Murray and Ward training together is that they can each book a slot on the practice courts and get themselves double time - giving themselves two 30 minute sessions back-to-back when players can only reserve one. They are definitely making the most of it today and have not stopped since that Murray banana break earlier.
What's up that sleeve?
The superstitious Milos Raonic is wearing a form of protective sleeve on his right arm for luck. Last year's Wimbledon semi-finalist initially wore it early last year to protect a rash from the sun, but once he started winning the Canadian treated it as a must-have fashion accessory. Today's big question
BBCCopyright: BBC
Inevitably, talk of Rafael Nadal's demise has escalated. The Spaniard last reached a Wimbledon final in 2010, beating Tomas Berdych in the process, and has once again fallen to a player ranked outside the world's top 100. Can he win another Grand Slam?

Brown & Nadal - 10 of the best
BBC SportCopyright: BBC Sport
Admittedly, not everyone is able to watch tennis for over 10 hours a day so if you missed Brown and Nadal's super match, why not watch 10 of the best points. It'll be worth it.
The match which had everyone mesmerised
Even defending champion Novak Djokovic could not take his eyes off Dustin Brown's phenomenal match against Rafael Nadal.
Why Nadal's shock exit is no shock
Tom Fordyce
Chief sports writer at Wimbledon
The great shock of Rafael Nadal's shock exit from Wimbledon at the hands of previously anonymous qualifier Dustin Brown was that in some ways it was no shock at all.
His past four Wimbledons now look like this: 2012, loses to world number 100; 2013: loses to number 135; 2014: loses to number 144; 2015: loses to number 102.
And yet. For all that we should be used to the sight of the once invulnerable giant of the game reduced to the role of ancient monument to be repeatedly defaced, there is still fresh astonishment in watching it happen once again.
You can read more of Tom's great article on Nadal's second-round exit on this very website.
What the papers say

It is perhaps no surprise that Dustin Brown's astonishing victory has resulted in the dreadlocked German appearing on the Independent's back page. "Another early exit for Nadal," says the paper.
If grass court tennis was a person...

On Thursday evening, Rafael Nadal was asked: If grass court tennis was a person, if it was a human being, how would you describe your relationship with that person?
His answer was touching. "You know, when you love one thing, and even last couple of years I didn't have the best relationship possible with them, it's going to be in my heart and in my memories forever the 2008 final," said the Spaniard.
"That was probably one of the most important moments of my career, and it was here."
Nadal to 'keep going'
Quote Message: It is a sad moment. But life continues. My career, too. I have to keep going, to keep working. from Rafael Nadal
It is a sad moment. But life continues. My career, too. I have to keep going, to keep working.
Welcome to day five
Hello! Welcome to day five of The Championships. Rafael Nadal, the 14-time Grand Slam champion, the two-time Wimbledon champion, is no longer with us, booted out of the competition after a 7-5 3-6 6-4 6-4 defeat by campervan-driving German Rastafarian Dustin Brown. A shock that was, perhaps, not much of a shock.

'We will try to fix anything'
Williams 6-2 4-6 7-5 Watson
BBC Radio 5 live
More quotes from Heather Watson's coach Diego Veronelli. He tells BBC Radio 5 live: "There are a lot of good things to take from this. Right now, she said she didn't play well enough in the big moments.
"The difference was very little and we will watch the game over and try to fix anything we need to."
'Heather had been dreaming of this day'
Williams 6-2 4-6 7-5 Watson
BBC Radio 5 live
Beat Serena next time?
Williams 6-2 4-6 7-5 Watson

'Heather's backhand was world class'
Williams 6-2 4-6 7-5 Watson
More quotes from Great Britain's Fed Cup captain Judy Murray.
"After the first set was so one-sided, Heather's backhand was world class and she can take a lot of encouragement from that performance. Hopefully it will spur her on to greater things," Murray tells BBC Radio 5 live.
"I hope she can get over it quite quickly as this was the first time she has been in such a position against the best player in the world. But if Heather is realistic, she will use that to her advantage and say 'I can hang with the best of them'."

'Heather will be devastated'
Williams 6-2 4-6 7-5 Watson
BBC Radio 5 live
Great Britain's Fed Cup captain Judy Murray has been talking to BBC Radio 5 live. She says: "It was an amazing match. Heather was blown away in the first set and Serena was serving big and hitting big off the ground. But Heather dug in, there were a lot of drop shots and short balls and she disrupted Serena's rhythm.
"To be 3-0 up in the third and serving for the match, I think Heather will be devastated to not come away with a victory as she was so, so close. But it's such an encouraging performance as she never gave up."
Watson should gain confidence
Williams 6-2 4-6 7-5 Watson
Tracy Austin
Two-time US Open champion on BBC Radio 5 live
"Having gone through this I'd put more money on Serena. Annabel said Heather wouldn't sleep tonight but she won't sleep for another month. This will give Heather a lot of confidence, she can get at least top 20 this year."

Sam Smith
Former British number one on BBC TV

* Williams 6-2 4-6 Watson
Centre Court going ripe bananas, and why not - Watson slicing Serena sideways, forcing her back, but the second serve is a powerpuff when it needs to be a wrecking-ball. 30-30, and - oh no, a double-fault, only her second of the match but at a stinking moment.
Serena fancies this - deep into the Watson backhand corner, she'll have to work miracles with this - and she has! Cuffed down the line, set point.
Second serve again, Serena striding to mid-court, crashing it away. Deuce. Come on, land a serve... No, another misses. Williams... nets! Second set point in more ways than one. First serve misses. Second.. is biffed into the net. WATSON LEVELS!

Have that, says Britain's Watson - dropper to bring Serena in, gossamer lob to leave her mighty foe stranded at the net. Delightful one-two. Serena now with a floaty dropper of a her own - wide, although she tries to mind-control it in with a subconscious wriggle of the hips. Easy street for Djokovic as he tightens his vice-like grip around this match. Tomic is the architect of his own downfall though, four errors from his side of the court putting Novak within a hold of the opening set.

Stephens 3-2 Safarova*
Over on court two, Sloane Stephens - a quarter-finalist in 2013 - is taking on Lucie Safarova - last year's semi-finalist.
Plenty of quality and pedigree in that one and either will fancy their chances of beating Coco Vandeweghe to make the last eight if they make it through.

*Djokovic 4-2 Tomic
Respite for 22-year-old Bernard Tomic, who will be pleased to see his side of the scoreboard ticking into action. The Australian reached the quarter-final here as an 18-year-old qualifier in 2011 - don't fancy his chances of matching that this year.

Coco Vandeweghe. It sounds like a pseudonym for checking into a five-star hotel on no good business.

It is her best ever performance at Wimbledon and she will play either Sloane Stephens or Lucie Safarova in the last 16 after dispatching Sam Stosur in 59 minutes.

Djokovic 2-1 Tomic*
More slicing coming from Bernard Tomic then the chef in your local pizzeria. The Australian gives some food for thought to Djokovic, forcing the world number one into deuce on his own serve. Four deuces in fact.
The Serb bangs down an ace, then an inch-perfect backhand winner from the baseline, to get off the hook. That game lasted longer than it takes anyone of decent athletic ability to run a kilometre - over seven minutes that was.

Australian Nick Kyrgios talking on BBC Two after beating seventh seed Milos Raonic:
"It will be tough against Richard Gasquet in the next round. I was two sets to love down against him last year. He is a savvy veteran on tour.
"I will enjoy my day off. I am playing better tennis than last year, moving well. I don't really fear anyone. If I play with the same mindset, play aggressively, then I have a pretty high chance to win the match."

Raonic 7-5 5-7 6-7 (3-7) 3-6 Kyrgios
Australian Nick Kyrgios talking on BBC Two: "I knew my game plan today, to play aggressive tennis. I knew Raonic would serve well but I returned well, got a lot of balls back, and created a lot of chances."

The atmosphere like an unopened can of lemonade, contained but ready to pop and fizz at a moment's notice.

"Great leaning Andy!" shouts his coach Amelie Mauresmo as he fizzes a fading backhand slice into the corner of the court. Murray's movement is so impressive when you watch it up close and he wants to make every shot count - grunting in disappointment if any go off target. He knows his coach Jonas Bjorkman is ready to take the mickey out of any mistakes too, and gives him a knowing look whenever he does slip up.

Kyrgios 1-1 Raonic
A lady on court two is furiously fanning her face, desperately trying to circulate the air. Almost everyone is wearing sun hats, which is very wise. No headwear for Raonic or Kyrgios, though, during the early stages of their match.

Andy Murray and James Ward have knocked up together twice already this week and their latest hit has already turned into a high-tempo session with the pair going toe to toe from the baseline and pounding down some big forehands, only interrupted by the odd shout of "sorry mate" when one of them misfires. In fact, the last few minutes were so strenuous that Andy needs a lie-down and a banana. Don't blame him either.

Kyrgios 0-0 Raonic
The 'Fanatics' are already in full song on court two, cheering their favourite son. It's another glorious day at the All England Club and Milos Raonic is about to launch a few boomers towards Nick Kyrgios.
BBC coverage
Is there such a thing as tennis overload? Simple answer: no. Live action is underway at Wimbledon and there's plenty of matches for you to keep an eye on online here. If you need a recommendation, Aussie bad boy Nick Kyrgios is on court two playing the big serving Milos Raonic.
Can Brown back it up?
Tim Henman
Former British number one on BBC TV
World number 102 Dustin Brown created the shock of the tournament by knocking out Rafael Nadal and now faces Viktor Troicki in the third round.
"The big question for me is how will he back it up? Others who beat Rafa then lost their last match, so this will be a real test of his mental capacity to put this one behind him and focus on the next match, which won't be easy."

Andy Murray has arrived for his practice session, along with his regular hitting partner James Ward, who you may have noticed is also through to the third round. Ward is obviously benefitting from his time with the 2013 champion and also his coaching team, chatting with Jonas Bjorkman as he heads out on court.

Murray on a roll
Tim Henman
Former British number one on BBC TV
Looking back at Andy Murray's smooth passage into round three: "Against Mikhail Kukushkin he had those wobbles but, if anything, that focused his mind. Robin Haase was a dangerous player and to win those first two sets 6-1 6-1 really stamped his mark on the match. The way he is moving and playing he looks really confident."
The path clears for Murray
Rafael Nadal's early demise, of course, means Andy Murray - should he reach the quarter-final - will not be meeting the Spaniard in the last eight, as was expected. Does that make life a tad easier for the British number one?
The results are in
Let's pretend Jeremy Vine is with us, revealing on a snazzy 3D graphic the results of our latest vote. Earlier, we asked whether you thought Rafael Nadal would win another Grand Slam. Sixty percent of you said YES! Optimism. We like like it.
Centre Court order of play
Play will begin on the outside courts at 12:15, while Centre Court's day will begin at 13:00 BST - and what a day it is on the Daddy of the courts.

An impeccable observation of the minute's silence. Those on Centre Court were standing, heads bowed, as were the spectators around the ground.
Minute's silence
At midday we will be observing a minute's silence which is being held across the UK at midday to remember the 38 people, including 30 Britons, killed in the Tunisia beach attack a week ago.
'Djokovic smells nice'

"He smells really nice," says one lucky autograph hunter as Novak Djokovic brushes past us at the end of his practice session. She's obviously talking about Djoko, not me, and the defending champion actually is rather fragrant despite his work-out in the sun. He has also stolen her pen. "I'll give it back when I'm done," he says with a smile as he continues scrawling his signature and fighting his way through the crowd.
Chris, don't go up too close smelling Wimbledon champions. We want to stay here for the entire fortnight.
BBC coverage
Tim Henman is chatting to Sue Barker on BBC2 about James Ward's progress at SW19. Henman, incidentally, was on Centre Court this morning posing for a group picture with the line judges and umpires. Former Wimbledon champion Ann Jones was there, too. They all seemed to be having a great time, laughing, smiling and all dressed dapperly.

"Can we do some serves?" asks Novak Djokovic as he takes a long swig of nasty looking pink liquid. His young practice partner, who looks about 13, is not going to say no. "Anywhere you like," yells Djoko, before hammering the first ball back into the corner. Boris Becker, wearing a pair of old trainers that I think date back to his first Wimbledon triumph in 1985, nods his head furiously.
It's queue again
"I know we've come a long way, right," said a woman in Welsh tones as I walked by the queue this morning. "But imagine if you'd come all the way from, like, Timbuktu only to be told you couldn't get in."
I wonder if there are any stats available on the number of people from Timbuktu who have attended the Wimbledon Championships...
The queue was at its sinuous best this morning, with a steward telling late-arrivals, at 7.30am, that they would face a long wait. He emphasised the O in long.

Novak Djokovic is next up practising on court five (aka the ninth best court in the world). The defending champion does not mix with the great unwashed on the outside courts very often during this fortnight and the Wimbledon security staff responsible for escorting him on and off court are already getting twitchy. "The take-off is going to be carnage," says a bloke in uniform behind me, where a horde of hopeful autograph hunters are already gathering.
Catch up with yesterday
While you're waiting for the action to start you could catch up with some of the best video's from yesterday.

National silence
Usually, play would under way at about 11:30 BST on the outside courts but today's start time has been pushed back to 12:15 as Wimbledon joins the national minute's silence at midday in memory of the victims of the Tunisia attack.
"We will be asking all those in the grounds at the time to observe the silence out of respect to the victims in Tunisia and their families," said Richard Lewis, chief executive of the All England club.

Ah, Stan was just waiting for his practise partner to turn up. Things have gone up a notch now. Before they got started, an extraordinary statement from the Swiss fourth seed. "This court (number five) is the ninth best in the world," Wawrinka tells his coach. No wonder Novak Djokovic and Maria Sharapova have also booked it this morning. I'm now wondering what Stan's top eight courts are?

French Open champion Stan Wawrinka is first on Court One today but he is out on court five warming up for his match with Fernando Verdasco. Well, sort of. After jogging on the spot for about five seconds and the briefest of stretches, Stan is now having a game of mini tennis with his coach, practising his touch around the net and then sending a text on his phone. This is my kind of warm-up.

Royal sweat of approval
Murray's Royal Box deliver
If you were to peek inside a certain Royal handbag this morning you might get a stinky surprise. As has become tradition at SW19, Andy Murray threw his wristband into the crowd after his victory - but yesterday he directed it towards the Royal Box.
What happened next? Wimbledon chairman Philip Brook caught the sweatband and gave the sweat-soaked souvenir to the Duchess of Cornwall. It It was a case of a Royal squeal of approval before Camilla placed her prize in her handbag.
Double delight for Britain
Good news for a Brit
With Rafael Nadal and Dustin Brown dominating the early-morning chat, I've yet to mention that Andy Murray and James Ward have progressed to the third round. I apologise.
It was a one-sided straight-sets win for Murray over Robin Haase. And a 6-2 7-6 (7-4) 3-6 6-3 victory for Ward over Czech Jiri Vesely.
It's the first time Britain have two men in the last 32 since 2002. Raise your arms if that makes you want to whoop and holler like a cowboy. Yee-haw.

German love-in on Centre Court
Who is Dustin Brown?
What the papers say
"Rasta, la vista Rafa," proclaims The Sun, while also celebrating the progress of Britons James Ward and Andy Murray. Ah, yes, British success...
Today's big question
Inevitably, talk of Rafael Nadal's demise has escalated. The Spaniard last reached a Wimbledon final in 2010, beating Tomas Berdych in the process, and has once again fallen to a player ranked outside the world's top 100. Can he win another Grand Slam?
Dustin's A-list appeal
Brown & Nadal - 10 of the best
Welcome to day five
Hello! Welcome to day five of The Championships. Rafael Nadal, the 14-time Grand Slam champion, the two-time Wimbledon champion, is no longer with us, booted out of the competition after a 7-5 3-6 6-4 6-4 defeat by campervan-driving German Rastafarian Dustin Brown. A shock that was, perhaps, not much of a shock.
