    Venus Williams' reward for victory is a semi-final clash with Italian world number 19 Roberta Vinci. 

    She'll be needing a big rest before that one because she was pushed all the way today.

    What a game! Three epic rallies sees the two fight tooth and nail. At one point it seems game over for Johanna Konta and at another it looks like she is on the point of winning the game.

    Instead, though it is Venus Williams who draws upon all of her experience to take victory.  

    No shame for Konta though, gave as good as she got.

    Venus Williams is rolling back the years now and Johanna Konta needs to find the extra she found yesterday once again. Williams mixes finesse with power and its proving too much for Konta and Williams has two break points.

    Venus Williams purses her lips as a line call goes against her. She is not happy about that one. Johanna Konta is 15-0 up. Williams takes the next two points but then finds the net to bring Konta level.

    A breathtaking rally follows but ends when Konta hits the net and the Briton then sends a forehand long.

    Johanna Konta is so close to a massive result, but she needs to stay calm and cool. Venus Williams won't give this one up without a fight and so it proves. A brilliant, booming shot down the line after dragging Konta wide brings her back into this.

    At over two hours, this is now Venus Williams' longest match of the tournament.

    Johanna Konta starts this game superbly, the highlight being a fine, precise return that puts her 30-0 up. 

    A double fault from Williams and she is in real trouble. She saves one break point as Konta's return is long, but Konta takes the next point and she is serving for the match!

    The perfect response by Johanna Konta as she takes the game to love. Impossible to tell which way this is going to go. Both are giving it their absolute all. Cracking battle.

    Venus Williams is sporting a look of steely determination now and looks to quickly capitalise on winning the previous game as she goes 30-0 up. Williams then hits a shot long before Johanna Konta puts a cross-court effort way out of reach. 

    It looks like another close battle is on the cards but Williams takes the next two points and the game.

    For the fourth game in a row, Venus Williams finds herself a break point ahead but this time she makes it count, breaking back immediately and we are back on serve.

    It looks like the game is in danger of running away from Johanna Konta as she drags a mid-court backhand into the net, and Venus Williams is 30-15 ahead. 

    The Brit responds superbly, though, two winners giving her break point but does the tension get to her? She lets Venus Williams back in and it is an invitation she gobbles up, hauling herself to deuce. 

    Konta, though, once again shows great resolve, forcing Williams into hitting a forehand long and Konta breaks. Williams lifts her arms in frustration. She has a heck of a game on her hands here.

    A massive forehand puts Venus Williams 30-15 up but Johanna Konta responds with a sublime backhand.

    Both then take a point each and it is deuce again. Williams puts a backhand into the net, heaves her shoulders, but does the same again soon after. Game Konta.

    Venus Williams is faltering. She is uncharacteristically missing shots and plants one into the net to put Konta 40-30 up. 

    Konta is long with a forehand and it is deuce, before the Brit sees a shot down the line just out. Williams then finds the back of the baseline with a fine backhand and she just manages to hold.

    Another closely fought game as Johanna Konta battles back from 30-0 down to deuce, before taking the game when Venus Williams hits a forehand wide.

    Konta is now a game away from levelling this match.

    A tight battle as Johanna Konta once again makes Venus Williams work. The latter flicks a backhand down the left side of the court at 30-30, but that good work is undone as she finds the net and it is deuce.

    A cracking rally follows before sheer power makes it advantage Williams. She then launches a forehand down towards the back of the court and Konta has no answer.

    This will be big for her mentally if she can take this to love, and she does with a strong forehand out of Williams' reach. Great work.
