    Kyrgios 3-6 4-6 6-1 4-6 Berdych

The first of three match points is saved but a double fault from Kyrgios and that is it.

Entertaining stuff from the Australian at time but he certainly flattered to deceive.

Tomas Berdych takes the applause of the crowd. Solid, solid stuff from the Czech.

    *Kyrgios 3-6 4-6 6-1 4-5 Berdych

Tomas Berdych's first double fault of the set and it is 15-15. A sign of nerves?

Nope. The Czech responds with a deep forehand that Kyrgios does well to reach, but can only find the net.

Kyrgios looks incredulous as Berdych's first serve is called in. He wins his challenge, but blows the chance by netting his next return. 40-15.

More tension as Berdych double faults again but he manages to hold. A game from the fourth round.

    That is sheer power.

His feet are all wrong, he isn't even set, but that doesn't stop him hammering away a monstrous forehand winner.

Nick Kyrgios is loving it out here as he holds to 15.

A 24th forehand winner from Tomas Berdych starts his service game in style before a 17th unforced error with the same shot pegs it back at 15-15.

Kyrgios returns out from a big Berdych serve but is level again as he makes a delicious backhand down the line winner.

Berdych takes a breath as his overhead smash is chased down by Kyrgios but sent into the net. Serve held to 30.

    Kyrgios 3-6 4-6 6-1 3-3 Berdych*

First point Tomas Berdych. A forehand cross court can't be reached by Nick Kyrgios.

Another lengthy baseline rally, Berdych looks solid, and Kyrgios goes wide. A sniff of a break.

Kyrgios responds with his 16th ace out wide but is down two break points as the Czech comes to the net, lands a volley onto the top of the tape and dead.

Boom. Boom. Two more aces from Kyrgios to the rescue. Game point for the Australian after a volley at the net and a stunning pick up at the net holds serve. Get. Out. Of. Jail.

    *Kyrgios 3-6 4-6 6-1 2-3 Berdych

Tomas Berdych is not letting Kyrgios' antics get to him... or is he?

After racing into a 30-0 lead he loses a couple of lengthy rallies, suddenly looking a tad tight.

Big point at 30-30... second serve... an exchange from the baseline before Berdych comes in on a short backhand and fires the ball into the corner. No chance Kyrgios.

Stunning from the Czech. He looks beaten by a thunderous shot down the line by Kyrgios but responds with a wicked low winner back down the line. Good hold.

    Kyrgios 3-6 4-6 6-1 2-2 Berdych*

    What a contrast.

    Tomas Berdych. Calm, emotionless, solid.

    Nick Kyrgios. Languid, flamboyant, temperamental.

Someone in the crowd calls for an ace and the Australian duly obliges before pointing his racket in celebration.

    Easy hold.

    Kyrgios 3-6 4-6 6-1 1-2 Berdych*

Berdych's expression gives nothing away. No emotion as he dumps a routine forehand volley into the net. 15-15.

A 'no' is shouted by Kyrgios, who can't control his first-serve return before another cry of something comes from him as he hits a backhand well wide.

    Tomas Berdych holds serve efficiently.

He hasn't lost before the quarter-finals at the Australian Open since 2010 and he isn't about to let that record go easily.

    Kyrgios 3-6 4-6 6-1 Berdych*

Nick Kyrgios looked out of this 33 minutes ago. He is now very much back in it.

A ridiculous array of shots, none from the coaching manual, drag him back into the match.

The home crowd are up... they believe.... and so does Kyrgios.

Anything could happen next. Do not take your eyes off this.
