    *Murray 6-3 6-7 (5-7) Verdasco

Murray shouts at himself as he loses the third point on his serve - it's 2-1 to Verdasco.

The Spaniard then opens up his body and top spins the air out of the ball on a forehand.

Another great winner sees Verdasco move into a 4-1 lead. Incredible stuff from the Spaniard.

That soon becomes 6-2. A third set awaits.

But three out of the four set points are saved when the Spaniard smacks a forehand into the net.

However, he makes no mistake on the next point, sending Murray out wide who can only manage to fire his return into the net.

    We go again.

    Murray 6-3 6-6 Verdasco*

During the little breather the lights go down, music is played and the spectators wave their smartphones which looks like spectators waving their smartphone screens in the dark. I wouldn't take part in that sort of thing.

Murray wins his service game to love. Unsurprisingly it's tie-break time.

    *Murray 6-3 5-6 Verdasco

You can tell Verdasco wants a tie-break. You cannot beat a good tie-break to excite a crowd.

It's 40-30 and the Spaniard powers an ace down the T to lead 6-5 in the second.

    Murray must now hold.

    Oh Fernando!

Murray's rediscovered how to win service games again and you've rediscovered how to snatch at points.

The Scot wins his service game to love. Verdasco needs to hold.

Murray has got out of jail - twice a break down, twice breaking back.

    *Murray 6-3 4-5 Verdasco

Verdasco is playing some Murray-like tennis. He's going for everything and is getting much of it right.

However, Murray happens to be world number two.

He has break point but the Spaniard saves with a vicious forehand swipe at the net.

Verdasco then faces another break point and this time the Spaniard's two-handed effort comes off the net and sails wide.

Murray screams "get fired up". Or something. He's fired up.

By the way, the Scot has a poppy symbol on his shirt.

    Murray 6-3 3-5 Verdasco*

Just when you think he's back in the set, it's 40-15 to Verdasco on the Murray serve.

He saves the first break point.

And the second.... but no. It's called out by the line judge, but the umpire calls "game".

Mr/Mrs Computer Graphics Replay, what do you say? The ball was in.

Verdasco to serve for the set.

    *Murray 6-3 3-4 Verdasco

Murray bangs the racquet in appreciation for a shot from his opponent.

The Spaniard is giving it his all, but that is when Murray is at his most dangerous because his game goes up a notch. Or three.

The Scot has break point after Verdasco fails to control his forehand, but the Spaniard saves.

Murray has another break point. Unsurprisingly with every great Verdasco winner, Murray is responding in the next point.

He takes the next with an unbelievable return that lands next to the soles of the Spaniard's trainers.

    Scaled the break back mountain.

Just a little reminder from Murray that he's not done yet as he stops a run of three consecutive games for the Spaniard.

    Murray 6-3 2-4 Verdasco*

Is Fernando saving energy so he can serve out?

Murray wins his service game to love, but Verdasco didn't move around much.

The Scot needs to break. About now.

    Wowsers!

Some would say after you break you are at your most vulnerable. Or am I getting mixed up with football cliches?

Anyway, no vulnerability from the Spaniard who holds serve with a great two-handed backhand.

Murray needs to move up a gear or two.

    Murray 6-3 1-3 Verdasco*

Verdasco blasts the ball in his Blackburn tribute shirt like Alan Shearer in his Ewood Park pomp.

The Spaniard finds himself at 30-0 on the Murray serve. Make that 40-0 after Verdasco comes to the net and lofts the ball over the Scot. It's 0-40. Crikey!

    First break point. Saved.

    Second break point. Saved.

Third break point. Verdasco breaks with a backhand winner after a brilliant rally.

Perhaps this will go to three sets.

    *Murray 6-3 1-2 Verdasco

Murray challenges a decision on his wayward backhand at 30-15 that was clearly out - I mean clearly. He loses the challenge. The crowd were probably unimpressed when they saw the graphic.

    Verdasco holds again.

Verdasco was a little bit lame in the way he didn't build on the work he did to get to break point mode.

    Murray 6-3 1-1 Verdasco*

There's more than a glimmer for Verdasco.

The Spaniard starts to read Murray's serves and has two break points when he... er... sends a forehand 'smash' (it was tame) over the net. OK, it was disguised.

However, this is a big however, he fails to take either. Deuce.

Murray is one of the current greats when it comes to getting himself out of trouble and a good serve followed by a Verdasco error sees the Scot hold. Never a doubt eh?

    *Murray 6-3 0-1 Verdasco

That's better Fernando. The Spaniard dictates the opening rally of the second set - swinging Murray on a pendulum before smacking down a winner on his forehand.

The Spaniard wins the game to love when Murray's return hits the tape.

A good start for Verdasco - will this go to three sets? OK, don't laugh.

    Murray 6-3 Verdasco*

Two set points. Murray takes the first by sending Verdasco out wide with a bullet of a serve.

Murray won points on 94% of his first serves and 75% of his first serves were in.

    Magnificent.

    What have you got Fernando?

    *Murray 5-3 Verdasco

Verdasco is having a bit of a cauchemar out there.

He puts too much purchase on what looked to be an easy forehand winner.

But a poor return at the net, a mistimed backhand and inaccurate backhand return sees Verdasco win his third game.

Murray to serve for the set though.
