    *Pouille 0-1 Murray

What a lovely crosscourt forehand return from Pouille to win the first point on the Murray serve.

The Frenchman moves to 40-15 by coming to the net and puts Murray under pressure with some exquisite volleying.

Muzza saves both break points as his opponent's returns are struck that wee bit too long.

Pouille then snatches at a double handed backhand before the Scot swats one away at the net.

Good start for Pouille but he failed to take his two break point chances - missed opportunities mon ami.

Who are the future Slam winners?

Djokovic, Murray, Wawrinka, Djokovic more Djokovic.

OK, so these guys are getting on a bit (if you consider being 29 old) and will, perhaps, lose their grip of the Slams within four or five years - maybe sooner.

So who do you see taking over? Pouille? Milos Raonic? Dominic Thiem? Even GB's very own Kyle Edmund?

He lost the first set and appeared to suffer a knee problem in the second set, but Novak Djokovic came through his third-round match against Grigor Dimitrov, winning 4-6 6-2 6-3.

That all means that the 29-year-old Serb remains in control of the destiny of the world number one ranking - which he's held for 122 weeks. All he needs is to reach the final here in Paris.

However, failure to do so would allow Murray to overtake him if the Scot can win the title, or if Murray reaches the final and "The Djok" exits before the semis.

Djokovic now plays ninth seed Marin Cilic in the quarters.

    So Lucas Pouille.

Last November he was world number 78. This November he's world number 17.

An impressive 2016 saw him reach the quarter-finals at both Wimbledon and the US Open .

He won the Moselle Open in September and his best display at a Masters event came in Rome where he reached the semi-finals only to see his run ended by... Andy Murray.

In head-to-heads it's 2-0 to the Scot. Will Pouille manage to upset the odds in front of his home crowd?

But he's through and his hopes of becoming world number one by the end of this tournament remain very much alive.

His next test is Lucas Pouille. More about the 22-year-old rising star in a sec.
