    Konta v Watson

It is the first time these two have met on the WTA Tour, but they have played opposite each other once, back in 2013.

A second-tier tournament in Barnstaple saw Konta win the first four games, before Watson retired.

Since then, Konta has become the British number one and she's now ranked 11th in the world, 97 places ahead of Watson, who is 108th.

Heather Watson wins the toss, twirling her racquet around in her hand, and she'll serve first. It is gloriously sunny in California today.

She beat American Nicole Gibbs to reach the second round, while Konta received a bye.
