Ace. Hold. Cilic moves on, but he still trails by a break in this fourth set.
Federer 6-2 6-7 (5-7) 6-3 3-1 Cilic*
Big hitting from the sixth seed, who goes 30-0 up with a couple of scorching serves.
But Federer attacks when Cilic doesn't make his first serve, and the Swiss' sprint into the net appears to put his opponent off.
40-15.
Federer 6-2 6-7 (5-7) 6-3 3-1 Cilic*
He's made one...! Roger Federer with the deftest of hands and more spin than a general election campaign clips a perfect backhand slice over the net.
He holds to love.

I think this is why Roger's still playing.
When you've got a sold-out crowd with people following you, it must to be fun out there and easy. It's so natural.
*Federer 6-2 6-7 (5-7) 6-3 2-1 Cilic
Wide serve, cross-court forehand and volley on the run sees Roger Federer to 30-0. Routine.
Marin Cilic then whacks a return long and it's 40-0.

*Federer 6-2 6-7 (5-7) 6-3 2-1 Cilic
That's an important hold for Marin Cilic, digging into his arsenal to pull out ground strokes with depth and power to get on the board in this fourth set.

Cilic has a little too often made an error on a make-able ball. He didn't that time.

John Frank Riley: Come on Cilic.
See, the Cilic army is out there...
Federer 6-2 6-7 (5-7) 6-3 2-0 Cilic*
A big, big save from the Croatian sixth seed, taking control of the rally and flinging a forehand winner down the line.
Deuce.
Federer 6-2 6-7 (5-7) 6-3 2-0 Cilic*
Double fault from Marin Cilic. Break point Roger Federer.
Federer 6-2 6-7 (5-7) 6-3 2-0 Cilic*
When Marin Cilic gets his first serve right, it's unstoppable. But the Croat follows up a racquet-snapper with a double fault.
And "unstoppable" isn't in the Roger Federer vocabulary, at least when it comes to his opponents, he wraps a forehand winner to make it 15-30.
Federer 6-2 6-7 (5-7) 6-3 2-0 Cilic*
That's a fist-pump inducing return from Marin Cilic, whipping one beyond the defending champion.
But it's a minor blip for Federer. He holds.
*Federer 6-2 6-7 (5-7) 6-3 1-0 Cilic
Magic from the racquet of Roger Federer, a half-volley from mid-court to tuck Marin Cilic away.
A deep forehand from his own baseline that proves too tricky for the Croat to return, and then an aggressive body serve.
40-0.
*Federer 6-2 6-7 (5-7) 6-3 1-0 Cilic
Perfect start to the fourth set for Federer as Cilic crumbles.

Federer has a bounce in his step now.
Federer 6-2 6-7 (5-7) 6-3 0-0 Cilic*
Roger Federer flat-bats a backhand back towards Marin Cilic and the Croat miscues.
Break point.
Federer 6-2 6-7 (5-7) 6-3 0-0 Cilic*
That's a little over-eager from the sixth seed, leaping into a forehand and powering it narrowly beyond the baseline.
A forehand into the net follows - 30-30.
Federer 6-2 6-7 (5-7) 6-3 0-0 Cilic*
This is the first time at this Australian Open that Roger Federer has had to play a fourth set...
Marin Cilic kicks it off with his 11th ace of the final.

I spoke to a Swiss lady outside the arena who follows him all over the world.
She got married and refused to take her husband's surname because her initials with her maiden name are RF.
Her husband then left her because she was so obsessed with Federer.
I said I'm very sorry and she said 'don't be, now my initials are RF and I get to follow him around the world so it's a happy ending'.
