    Djokovic 6-3 6-1 2-0 Sandgren*

Novak Djokovic rattles through his service game to hold to love. The Serb reaches for a cap, that evening sun is dipping low enough to trouble the 12th seed... he's got it bent to one side like some sort of Mighty Max character.

Tennys Sandgren, sweatband up around his elbow, wheels away in frustration after a sloppy backhand finds the net, and that hands Djokovic another break point.

  2. Tie-breakpublished at 18:59 British Summer Time 3 July 2018

    Sharapova 6-6 (2-1) Diatchenko*

A horrid shank from Vitalia Diatchenko to a Sharapova second serve extends Sharapova's advantage.

The former world number one then gifts a point with an overworked backhand.

    *Sharapova 6-6 (1-0) Diatchenko

Vitalia Diatchenko will serve to get the tie-break under way.

And she double faults first up. Not ideal.

  4. Sharapova forces tie-breakpublished at 18:56 British Summer Time 3 July 2018

    Sharapova 6-6 Diatchenko*

A screaming backhand from Vitalia Diatchenki goes cross-court for a winner at 30-30.

Sharapova gets her nose in front as a Diatchenko return drifts long, and then a missed forehand takes us to a tie-break.

  5. Djokovic breakspublished at 18:55 British Summer Time 3 July 2018

    *Djokovic 6-3 6-1 1-0 Sandgren

Tennys Sandgren goes for it with his second serve, but he can't find the target and hands Novak Djokovic a second break point chance.

Sandgren is loose off the next, and Djokovic breaks early in the third.

    Djokovic 6-3 6-1 0-0 Sandgren*

Sandgren saves it, and yelps in delight. The American creeps his way to an advantage, but then pops a wayward groundstroke long.

  8. Postpublished at 18:52 British Summer Time 3 July 2018

    Djokovic 6-3 6-1 0-0 Sandgren*

Right, if Novak Djokovic can rattle through this in super quick time he might catch the footie...

Tennys Sandgren thinks otherwise, making the Serb work, but then Djokovic picks out the flank with a backhand winner.

    Break point.

  9. Postpublished at 18:51 British Summer Time 3 July 2018

    *Sharapova 5-6 Diatchenko

An on-the-move Sharapova looks irked as she dumps a forehand into the net, before she takes a nasty tumble on the backhand side, left foot sliding underneath her.

She's okay, but it's 40-0 on the Diatchenko serve, before Sharapova lashes a forehand long. She'll have to serve to stay in the set.

(That's the first love game of the match, too)

    Riske 6-1 6-1 Duque-Marino

I'm not saying Colombian Mariana Duque-Marino had other things on her mind with a certain football match kicking off at 1900 BST, but having been listed fourth on Court 7, the match was over very quickly as she lost 6-1 6-1 to American Alison Riske.

Duque-Marino is a soccer fan and supports Real Madrid but we all know who she will be supporting tonight. She's hotfooted it out of Wimbledon to see if her country can beat England and make the World Cup quarter-finals!

There’s an annoying wisp of bright sunlight left down one side of Court One - Djokovic has his hat on again but he only needs it for the very far corner. Surely he wouldn’t turn it round like Sandgren?

    Sharapova 5-5 Diatchenko*

Maria Sharapova cranks her way through her latest service game, racing to a 40-15 lead, before a muscle into the corner of the court from Diatchenko drifts long.

Diatchenko challenges, but it's in vain.

  14. Djokovic breakspublished at 18:47 British Summer Time 3 July 2018

    *Djokovic 6-3 5-1 Sandgren

Another break point for Novak Djokovic, but the Serb can only poke a racquet at a punchy Tennys Sandgren serve and flings it high into the Wimbledon sky.

Another chances comes his way... the fifth of this game, and this time the former world number one takes it after a drawn out rally that culminates with Sandgren clipping the net.

  15. Postpublished at 18:45 British Summer Time 3 July 2018

    Djokovic 6-3 4-1 Sandgren*

Djokovic attacks the net, but Sandgren whip a forehand wide from centre court and it kisses the chalk on the inside of the tramlines. One saved, another too... and then a powerful leaping forehand to save the third. Deuce.

  16. Sharapova trailingpublished at 18:44 British Summer Time 3 July 2018

    *Sharapova 4-5 Diatchenko

Just the six breaks of serve in the first nine games between Maria Sharapova and Vitalia Diatchenko.

Diatchenko has just held off a few break points to nudge herself in front. She's a game away from taking the fisrt set.

    Djokovic 6-3 4-1 Sandgren*

Djokovic leaves a Sandgren slice, and completely misjudges the trajectory of that shot as it trickles in. The Serb shakes his head in frustration.

He moves the American around the court and takes the next point, but is still muttering under his breath about something - not looking completely satisfied, Novak.

He holds though, after Sandgren finds the net.
