Ooft! What a strike down the line from Roger Federer! All curve and top spin to smash in for 15-15.

Yet another error comes flying off the Federer forehand but a bit of wonky net play from Millman, stretched at the net, forces proceedings to deuce.

Long, long, rally... oh and John Millman passes Roger Federer with a beauty!

What a shot! That was superb, Millman looking like he was done for with a speedy Fed forehand, but that's a glorious pass on the backhand, and the Rod Laver Arena jumps to its feet to cheer.

    Advantage, Millman...

    Oh, hello!

A couple of overworked forehands from John Millman, and Federer's got a break point to play with...

  8. Still on servepublished at 11:38 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2020

    Federer 4-6 7-6 (7-2) 4-3 Millman*

There's frustration etched on Federer's face as he skews a shot wide and some moves to the net work, before he vollies right into the net tape.

Big serve, out wide, and Millman nets the return. Game, Federer.

    *Federer 4-6 7-6 (7-2) 3-3 Millman

Lovely all court play from Federer, pushing the ball into all corners, but those errors keep coming off his racquet.

Long goes the Swiss forehand, and Millman pumps his fist. He holds to 15.

    Federer 4-6 7-6 (7-2) 3-2 Millman*

The tennis has been so full on today that I'm onto my second (giant) coffee.

John Millman comes charging in to take the game to Roger Federer, slicing a winner down the line, and he's unlucky that his attempted pass of the advancing Swiss drifts wide.

A few too many hits from Millman, and Fed holds.

    *Federer 4-6 7-6 (7-2) 2-2 Millman

That's a wayward backhand from the Swiss, sailing long over the baseline, and it's advantage, Millman. That's 38 (!!) unforced errors for Federer.

Body serve from Millman, and Federer bunts it down to the ground.

    Game, Millman.

  12. Deuce on Millman servepublished at 11:26 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2020

    Federer 4-6 7-6 (7-2) 2-1 Millman*

Ouchie. John Millman double faults to start this latest service game.

Federer gets lucky with a net cord that puts him 15-30 up but that's brilliantly cancelled out by a wide serve from Millman, before a clean backhand winner takes him to game point.

We're at deuce, though, courtesy of a Federer charge to the net.

    Federer 4-6 7-6 (7-2) 2-1 Millman*

Roger Federer has decided he'd like to come forward a bit more and he volleys his way to a 30-0 lead.

A stormer of a Millman backhand leaves him flailing at the net, though, before he randomly decides to swirl a horrid drop shot into the net for 30-30.

That's a let off from Millman, shanking a return high into the air, and Federer once again serves his way out of trouble.

    *Federer 4-6 7-6 (7-2) 1-1 Millman

An error from Millman in the second gives Federer the advantage at 15-0, but three errors from the Swiss hands Millman two game points.

Federer strokes a forehand down the line, but Australian covers it and clips a backhand crosscourt to secure the second game.

    Federer 4-6 7-6 (7-2) 1-0 Millman*

    Lovely.

Federer is in a bit of bother at 30-30 but a big serve, and a corking forehand, puts him in front for the first time in this match.

Shot! Another great rally, John Millman sticking in at every opportunity, and it's an eventual dab that gets him out of the rally.

Now then. Six set points to Federer.
