The forehand volley of Thiem is iffy, the backhand very good. That was a terrible volley.

The umpire asks the players to replay the first point - the crowd get agitated, as they do in these situations.
Thiem makes it 15-0 and then comes to the net to produce a volley. He should have made it but instead the ball comes off the white tape.
15s each.
Djokovic 6-4 4-6 2-6 4-3 Thiem*
15-15.
Djokovic produces his sixth ace - what seems like his first in ages.
Thiem then delivers the wildest one-handed backhand shot of the tournament, most probably. Meme-worthy.
30-15 before Djoko goes on to hold.

Well Djokovic is not injured, that's for sure!
That's a big hold from Thiem. Like the women's final yesterday, it just felt like Kenin held on and that feels like that from Thiem - Djokovic really came back to his best tennis.
*Djokovic 6-4 4-6 2-6 3-3 Thiem
That is tennis! Both players are pulled about more than in your average tug o'war before Thiem takes the point with a smash.
The Austrian holds.

Novak's got a sniff now, thinks he's got a chance.
Djokovic 6-4 4-6 2-6 3-2 Thiem*

40-30.
But then in the 'Battle of the Slices', Thiem is outsliced.
Deuce.

A very interesting statistic... Novak Djokovic is one point ahead, and it doesn't feel that way.
Djokovic 6-4 4-6 2-6 3-2 Thiem*
15-15 before Thiem applies pressure on Djokovic by coming to the net. His opponent can't handle the pressure.
30-15.
The Austrian then goes one-handed with his backhand but it lands a few inches into the badlands.
30-30.

If Djokovic is injured, he can still move well! It's more the lack of energy, but he can still move well in his legs.
Djokovic 6-4 4-6 2-6 3-2 Thiem*
Thiem goes long following a flipper of a baseline shot from Djokovic.
40-0 before the Serb polishes off the game with an angled volley at the net.
*Djokovic 6-4 4-6 2-6 2-2 Thiem
Are Thiem's levels dropping? He finds the net with a return.
Djokovic then sprints to the net and applies extra whip on a winning forehand.
30-0.

In between points he's limping and grumpy. I don't know what he's up to.
*Djokovic 6-4 4-6 2-6 2-2 Thiem
Djokovic nonchalantly returns Thiem's serve. #dismissive
30-15.
40-15 as Thiem despatches a graceful volley.
Game.

Thiem is not going to let up, he's too good a player to get sucked in by this sort of stuff, by an injured player.
Djokovic 6-4 4-6 2-6 2-1 Thiem*
Thiem's been watching Djokovic's tactics of coming to the net - obviously, because they're on the same court together.
15-0.
30-0.

Shane Warne is watching. He was a top player - he was one of the top three as a junior in Victoria about the age of 15. Decided to take the right direction though, I think..
