    *Galan 0-4 Norrie

Cameron Norrie is the last Briton in the men's singles here after exits by Andy Murray, Dan Evans and most recently Liam Broady.

He's taken on the challenge of keeping British hopes alive with gusto, racing to a 4-0 lead in the first set against Colombian Daniel Elahi Galan.

    Nadal 6-4 6-4 2-2 Gerasimov*

Gerasimov is getting his ankle strapped up during the medical timeout.

Hopefully, the 6ft 5in Belarusian is OK to continue. It's been a very good performance so far, despite the scoreline.

You get a little fright when that happens, but Gerasimov gave the thumbs up to Nadal. He would be wise to take a little moment and dust himself off.

    Nadal 6-4 6-4 2-2 Gerasimov*

So Gerasimov appeared to have landed awkwardly on his ankle in that last point.

He's taken off his sock while sitting on the chair. At least his ankle isn't facing west like mine was two years ago.

    Nadal 6-4 6-4 2-2 Gerasimov*

The sun is about to disappear above Philippe Chatrier and are the hopes of Gerasimov about to do the same?

Not if Nadal produces more double faults...

    30-30.

But the Spaniard recovers to hold.

    Moutet 6-0 6-7 (7-9) 6-7 (3-7) 6-2 14-14 Guistino*

Finally! There has been been another break in this tense battle on the outside courts... but then France's Corentin Moutet can't back it up when he serves for victory.

From what we remember of Moutet during his recent US Open win over Britain's Dan Evans, there will profanities and racquets flying all over the place.

That's the second time he has failed to serve out the fifth set.

  11. Nadal breaks backpublished at 18:06 British Summer Time 28 September 2020

    *Nadal 6-4 6-4 1-2 Gerasimov

A typical forehand winner from Nadal before a mesmerising rally finishes with an angled volley at the net which Gerasimov fails to send back.

    He should have.

    He didn't.

    Nadal breaks back.

Nadal wants to break back asap.

    15-30.

    Moutet 6-0 6-7 (7-9) 6-7 (3-7) 6-2 13-13 Guistino

Shame there aren't many fans out on court 14. That's where there is the sort of storyline developing which would usually see plenty of grounds-pass holders heading over to catch a glimpse.

France's Corentin Moutet is deep into a fifth-set battle with Italian Lorenzo Guistino... five hours and 27 minutes deep to be precise!

The pair are locked 13-13 in the decider. No final-set tie-breaker at Roland Garros remember...

  14. Gerasimov breaks Nadalpublished at 18:02 British Summer Time 28 September 2020

    Nadal 6-4 6-4 0-2 Gerasimov*

Nadal then lands a double-handed backhand hideously wide - 'hideous' relative to the Spaniard's level.

    HE IS BROKEN.

    WHAT A POINT!

Does it end with a Gerasimov winner?

    It does. Umpire overrule.

    TWO BREAK POINTS FOR EGOR!!

15-30 and now a second serve.

    It's all over for Nadal.

    *Nadal 6-4 6-4 0-1 Gerasimov

Yet again Gerasimov stays pace with a rally but tries to end it with a sliced drop from the baseline - the ball drifts into the bottom of the netting.

    15-15.

  19. Postpublished at 17:55 British Summer Time 28 September 2020

    *Nadal 6-4 6-4 0-1 Gerasimov

    Gerasimov holds to 15.

    Fairly routine.

The word 'resigned' hasn't appeared on his shirt yet.

    Miles Maclagan

It was a similar pattern to the first set, an early break for Nadal and an unrelenting grip on the set.

The barrage of length and quality which Gerasimov has faced has been too much. There is pretty much no hope for him now.
