    Alcaraz 1-6 7-6 (8-6) 6-1 1-0 Djokovic*

That's wide from Alcaraz! Djokovic has fought off those two break points. I think he had a word with the umpire again there too.

    Deuce - please not again...

    Can he complete the heist?

    Alcaraz 1-6 7-6 (8-6) 6-1 1-0 Djokovic*

Forehand winner from Alcaraz! Djokovic hits the turf too.

This means it is two break points for Carlos Alcaraz. You can hear these alarm bells ringing in Belgrade.

  5. Alcaraz applies pressure againpublished at 17:21 British Summer Time 16 July 2023

    Alcaraz 1-6 7-6 (8-6) 6-1 1-0 Djokovic*

Andy Murray has been joined by Laura Robson in the stands. The two of them are joking about something. I'm sure Murray would love to be out there but is there just a little bit of him that is happy to be watching?

Djokovic, meanwhile, makes another surprising error. He stops again mid-point but this time his challenge is wrong meaning Alcaraz gets the point.

It's 0-30 on the Serb's serve - another opening for his opponent.

  6. 'Novak a little flat'published at 17:19 British Summer Time 16 July 2023

I just feel that physically Novak is a little flat. He's stretching right in front of us.

Carlos Alcaraz is certainly showing no signs of tiredness. He bounds to his chair after another big serve puts him 1-0 up in the fourth.

After almost seven minutes, Novak Djokovic returns.

I'd love to hear what the watching Andy Murray is saying.

Could Jeff Bezos have flown a rocket into space during that time?

Perhaps a little cold after the wait, Alcaraz loses the first two points to fall 0-30 behind on serve.

He follows by powering a first serve and whipping a forehand to take the next two.

  10. Fourth set under waypublished at 17:16 British Summer Time 16 July 2023

    *Alcaraz 1-6 7-6 (8-6) 6-1 Djokovic

Novak Djokovic returns to cries of "Car-los, Car-los" - Alcaraz waiting for him at the back of the court.

The defending champion has it all to do from two sets to one behind.

  11. 'Alcaraz has taken the best from Federer, Nadal and Djokovic'published at 17:15 British Summer Time 16 July 2023

    Todd Woodbridge
Former Wimbledon doubles champion on BBC TV

Djokovic has to find a way to hurt Alcaraz now. He has not been able to do that.

Alcaraz is a player that has watched Roger, Rafa and Novak, and he has taken the best of those three. He has the movement in the corners of Novak, he has the bully-ness and competitive spirit of Rafa. He has the beautiful slice backhand and uses the net.

He is so effective in three different parts of the court that no other young player has been able to bring to the game.

Alcaraz is back out on court already. Pacing the baseline and hopping up and down with ball and racquet in hand. He wants to get this done.

    Where is Djokovic?

    *Alcaraz 1-6 7-6 (8-6) 6-1 Djokovic

Alcaraz is the first man to reappear on Centre Court.

A big swig of his drink and then the Spaniard strolls to his end with a few balls ready to get back under way.

Still no sign of Djokovic. Alcaraz enquires how long he has left. One minute, I think is the answer.

Both players have left the court for a break.

Novak Djokovic was straight off. It's a huge few minutes ahead for the defending champion, who is right up against it now.

After a slow start, Carlos Alcaraz is one set away from his first Wimbledon title.

When Alcaraz took the second set to level there was a roar, cupping his ears and lapping up the applause.

This time when he takes the set to go ahead it's cool, calm and collected. He eyeballs Djokovic as he walks to his chair but this is serious, now.

Unsurprisingly, it looks like Djokovic has gone for a comfort break and a talking to of his own.

  16. 'Novak knew this set was done'published at 17:10 British Summer Time 16 July 2023

Novak knew this set was done, no way to come back into it.

Just getting ready for that fourth set.

  17. Game and third set - Alcarazpublished at 17:10 British Summer Time 16 July 2023

    *Alcaraz 1-6 7-6 (8-6) 6-1 Djokovic

It appears Mr Djokovic may have accepted his fate in this third set.

He looks a bit disinterested as he falls 0-40 down on serve, not really over-extending himself in any of the points.

    There it is!

After breaking in that sensational fifth game which will live long in the memory, Alcaraz, relatively speaking, cruises to the last two games of the set to move ahead in the men's singles final!

Alex: To put that game into perspective, I put my roast dinner in the oven when it went to 3-1. It's almost burnt now.

Monty: 26 minutes, 13 deuces. I've seen entire sets played quicker than that one game at 3-1 Alcaraz. The match is worth it for that alone. ¡VAMOSSSSSS! Go Carlitos!

    Andrew Jazzie: Absolutely INCREDIBLE game.

Sukh Pabial: Incredible tennis from both players in that game. The game alone was 25 mins. 13 deuces. No-one grinds down Djokovic but Alcaraz is finding a way. God I love this sport!

It took me 20 minutes to get down from BBC Sport base to Centre Court it was so packed in the corridors, normally a two minute walk. So best of luck to Matt.

Meanwhile, Alcaraz wasn't messing around in that game, was he?
