  2. Warren Gatland on Roger Lewispublished at 13:14 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2015

When we have gone to ask for finance for support for the team, whether it's staff or facilities, he has been absolutely outstanding. And off the field you have to look at the figures of the debt that has been reduced.

  3. Cuthbert "not as sharp as he was"published at 13:13 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2015

Talking about wing Alex Cuthbert, excluded from the team to face France, Warren Gatland said: "He's not quite as sharp as he was in the summer.

"Last year when we went to South Africa, the South Africans struggled to handle him… He's probably not quite where he was seven or eight months ago."

I understand Cardiff City director Steve Borley and chief executive Ken Choo were due to travel to Wigan, but this will now not happen.

No one has ever been in doubt about the animosity between Cardiff owner Vincent Tan and former boss Malky Mackay, and this latest episode underlines the depth of feeling.

This undermines the contention of both managers that this is just another game. At a higher level this is clearly a grudge match.

And if anything this increases the pressure on Cardiff boss Russell Slade then it must be the fact Wigan have a woeful home record - and he won't want to explain a poor result to the owner.

  9. Bluebirds board in Wigan match boycottpublished at 12:25 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2015

After a rush of rugby around the Wales team announcement, you may have missed this rather weighty Cardiff City story...

The Bluebirds' board members are boycotting tonight's Championship game at Wigan in protest at what they allege to be a club owned and managed by racists. At least two members of the board were planning to travel but owner Vincent Tan has instructed them not to and they are said to support his position.

    Vincent Tan

In December, Wigan owner Dave Whelan was fined £50,000 for making racist comments about Jewish and Chinese people. He also served a six-week ban from all football-related activity. However, a Football Association disciplinary commission said it was "satisfied" Whelan "is not a racist" and did not intend to cause offence.

Former Wales and Cardiff City striker Nathan Blake is to be appointed to the board of his home-town club Newport County.

The one-time Premier League player has been in talks with County's chairman Les Scadding and Blake will have further negotiations with County directors this week before being confirmed as a non executive director.

The 43-year-old is set to become the fourth new non-executive member of County's six-man board inside four weeks following the return of former chairman Chris Blight.

  11. France v Wales - it's a long storypublished at 11:56 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2015

    France v Wales

The first international between Wales and France took place in 1908 in Cardiff, and the teams have met 92 times in total.

Wales are ahead in the series, but only just, though they have won the title nine more times than France.

In fairness, six of those were claimed before the French joined the tournament.

  12. Your reaction to Warren Gatland's team selectionpublished at 11:52 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2015

There's been a mixed reaction to Warren Gatland's team selection on social media. Here is a sample of how people feel about the Welsh side...

Vince Harris: Scott Williams should be starting - neither wings will see the ball!

George Turner: Player selection is not the problem, it's tactics.

David Ferguson: Liam Williams deserves his place. Far more creative and difficult to defend against. Cuthbert too predictable.

Dave Buckley: An on form Hibbard wouldn't be dropped but he's miles off that.

The BIG B: Looks good. Cuthbert needed to be dropped. Bring it on Frenchies!

Revey Ace: Feel For Cuths etc but we lost the 6N in February. It's all about squads & WC now.

We will have live video as Warren Gatland faces the media at 13: 00 GMT. You can join the debate by tweeting using #BBCSportWales, or email us.

Wales wing George North will become the youngest player to reach 50 international appearances when he takes the field against France in Paris on Saturday.

It will be his 47th appearance for Wales, but he played in all three Tests for the British and Irish Lions against Australia in 2013 - taking his tally of Tests to the half century.

North will be 22 years and 321 days on Saturday, so will overtake the previous record of former Australia wing Joe Roff, who got there six weeks after his 24th birthday during the 1999 Rugby World Cup.

  14. Warren Gatland on his team selectionpublished at 11:14 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2015

"We have made some tough calls and there were some tight decisions but it is a very strong team we are putting out," said Wales Head Coach Warren Gatland.

"We have a lot of strength in depth at second-row, it is a chance for Luke Charteris to get a start and we have been impressed with Bradley Davies as well. It is nothing against Jake but we have a lot of strength in depth and it's an opportunity to see the other two.

"It's a chance for Scott Baldwin to start as well, the last time he started he went well in the victory over South Africa. It is great to have Samson back available and it was a tough call in the back-three but we have decided to go with Liam and George."

What do you think? Will this team be good enough to beat France?

  16. Wales team . . . it's getting close nowpublished at 10:58 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2015

Who will play for Wales against France?

Will Liam Williams keep his place on the wing? Will Alex Cuthbert make the team?

Has tight-head Samson Lee recovered from his concussion?

We'll find out at 11:00 GMT.

  17. Roger Lewis's viewpublished at 10:29 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2015

"The time is right for me to step down after a remarkable period at the helm of the WRU. It has been a fantastic and memorable journey both on and off the pitch and I would like to thank the board for their backing during some challenging times. By announcing this in advance, we are ensuring that the transition can be well managed and in the interests of Welsh rugby."

  18. And a strong opinion on Roger Lewis's legacy...published at 10:29 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2015

David Moffett, former WRU chief executive

It's clear that Welsh rugby has not been very well run for the last two or three years. Roger Lewis inherited a fantastic rugby union and in actual fact I've been struggling since I found out about this to actually come up with anything that he's done that's been positive for Welsh rugby.

The one thing that he will point to is that he drove the debt down and that has proven to be an absolute disaster for Welsh rugby because while the debt was reduced the game at the grassroots has been kept poor. Outside of that I've really struggled to find out what positive impact he has made on Welsh rugby.

Cardiff City manager Russell Slade says his focus is on the pitch.

Cardiff City have not won in eight matches and have drawn their last four.

But manager Russell Slade claims the team are improving: "I can see that improvement day in and day out and we're very solid at the minute," he said.

"And while we haven't got that elusive win we're not panicking because we know if we're playing with that honesty and that accountability out there on the pitch then the results will take care of themselves in the end.

"It's all about focus and what's happening on the pitch."

  20. Mackay is 'not out to make point'published at 10:18 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2015

    Malky MacKayImage source, Getty Images

Wigan boss Malky Mackay said tonight's game against his former cub Cardiff City is just another game.

Speaking before the news that Cardiff's board had been instructed to boycott the match, Mackay said he had nothing to prove.

"It's never about proving a point," he said.

"You make friends and you have special moments at every club you're at...and they are the things that you hold onto.

"I have very, very good memories of my time at Cardiff - the fans are sensational and the football team and staff in general all came together and we managed to do something that hadn't been done for 50 years.

"I had great times down there. It's absolutely a large part of my life."
