It looks great from the broadcast seats in one of the five corners of the stadium. I can see a few empty seats but that's perhaps because people have escaped to keep warm.

The atmosphere has been cranked up 100% since Gangnam Style came over the airwaves.

  5. 'It's the journey not the medals' - US figure skater Chenpublished at 11:40 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2018

Figure skating: Men's Single Skating (Friday, 16 February 01:00 GMT)

USA figure skater Nathan Chen explains how there's more important aspects to the Olympic Games than just winning medals.

He says: "We are trying to strive for these gold medals but at the end of the day It's really the friendships and the journey that matters the most - that is what you will remember.

"I have wanted to make an Olympic team my whole life.

"Figure skating is a combination of artistry and athleticism in a really cool package. It will definitely be a sport to watch at the Games."

  6. Figure skater Nagasu on bouncing back from 2014 disappointmentpublished at 11:40 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2018

Figure skating: Ladies' single skating (Wednesday, 21 February, 01:00 GMT)

American figure skater Mirai Nagasu talks about wanting to make her country proud in Pyeongchang, four years after her controversial omission from the 2014 Sochi Olympics team.

The 24-year-old was not picked for the Games in Russia, despite winning a bronze medal in the US Championships earlier that year.

"I'm thoroughly exhausted from crying, what a way to come back," she says. "Figure skating is a very difficult sport - we have to be so fit, beautiful, graceful and athletic."

  7. Lindsey Vonn: The story of the Games?published at 11:39 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2018

This could well be the most amazing story of the Winter Olympics if American Lindsey Vonn was to win a second gold medal.

She took gold in the women's downhill in 2010 but since 2013 has torn knee ligaments three times, had two knee reconstruction operations, twice broken her tibia and also broken an ankle.

However, Vonn, 33, has recovered from all her injuries and won a World Cup event in Germany earlier last Saturday.

During half-time of the Super Bowl, American television channel NBC broadcast an absolutely superb, spine-tingling advert featuring Vonn and her recovery from her injuries, which you can see via her Twitter page by clicking on the link below. It is well worth watching.

  11. Flag-bearer coin toss 'dishonourable'published at 11:31 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2018

So how do you select a flag-bearer? Well, for some countries it is a very simple choice. For Ghana, South Africa, Timor-Leste, Luxembourg, Madagascar, Malta, Bermuda, San Marino, Singapore, Azerbaijan, Eritrea, Ecuador, Kenya, Kosovo, Cyprus, Tonga and Hong Kong they only have one person competing.

But for the United States there are a whopping 241 of them. It came down to a choice between Luge slider Erin Hamlin and speed skater Shani Davis. A vote from eight winter sports federations ended 4-4 so they opted to use a coin to determine the winner.

Hamlin was chosen, and Davis was furious, calling the decision to toss a coin 'dishonourable'.

Luge: Men's singles (Saturday, 10 February 10:00 GMT)

The 154-athlete Germany team is expected to do very well and they are the latest to make their way in. As each of the teams walk into the stadium, the country's flag appears with a fancy light show and the name of the country appearing in lights.

Germany's two-time Olympic luge champion Felix Loch is hopeful of a winning a third gold at the 2018 Games in Pyeongchang.

"To drive at 154 kilometres per hour is unbelievable," says the German as he also talks about his desire to win another Winter Olympics medal and how his life has changed since becoming a father.

  13. Norway's Winter Olympics eggs-travaganzapublished at 11:29 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2018

It is simple enough so what could possibly go wrong? Find 1,500 eggs to feed hungry Norwegian athletes at the Winter Olympics in South Korea.

Get on to Google Translate to render the order in Korean and send it to a local supermarket.

That is what chefs for Norway's Olympic team did, only to end up with a delivery of 15,000.

The chefs blamed a translation error, but it looks as if a typo might also be at fault.

Chef Stale Johansen told Norwegian newspaper Aftenposten that luckily the team were able to return the 13,500 surplus., external

Anyway, the team has made it, the right number of them as well, and they have just walked into the stadium.

    After Ghana, comes Nigeria.

Nigeria's women's bobsleigh team will make history as they become the first Nigerians - and the first African sled - to compete at a Winter Olympics.

Seun Adigun, Ngozi Onwumere, and Akuoma Omeoga qualify to represent Nigeria through their parents.

They were track and field athletes before switching to winter sports, with Adigun competing in the 100m hurdles at the London 2012 Olympics.

"We're the first team from the country of Nigeria and the first team from the continent of Africa," say the proud trio. "We have started something that will last a lifetime."

  17. Ghana hopeful slides into Pyeongchangpublished at 11:25 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2018

Temperatures do not drop below 20C in Ghana but that hasn't stopped Akwasi Frimpong earning his place at a Winter Olympics in which the weather has been 20C below freezing at times.

Frimpong, who will turn 32 in the first week of the Games, was born in Ghana, where his grandmother brought him and nine other children up in a one-roomed house. He moved to the Netherlands aged eight to live with his mother and the ex-Dutch junior sprint champion had a documentary made about him in 2010 called De theorie van het Konjin (The Rabbit Theory).

"My former sprint coach, Sammy Monsels, talks about the analogy of a rabbit in a cage, ready to escape from a lion," Frimpong explains. "I am that rabbit, and I have escaped the lions [of my past]. I am no longer being eaten by all the things around my life."

He is proudly waving his flag, with the biggest smile you could ever imagine.
