MotoGP: Michael Laverty finishes 18th in Indianapolis round

Michael Laverty finished 18th in Sunday's Indianapolis MotoGP event in the United States.

The Paul Bird Motorsport rider from Toomebridge finished one minute and 36.388 seconds behind winner and championship leader Marc Marquez.

Laverty's finish matched his grid position of 18th after he had been 3.65 seconds slower than pole position man Marc Marquez in qualifying.

Spaniard Marquez finished ahead of Dani Pedrosa and Jorge Lorenzo in the race.

Marquez's win extended his championship lead to 21 points over Pedrosa.

The MotoGP teams move on to next weekend's Czech Grand Prix at Brno.
