Andy Priaulx ended his maiden season in DTM racing with an eighth-place finish at Hockenheim.

It means Guernsey's former three-time World Touring Car champion ended the campaign in 13th place, just above David Coulthard and Ralf Schumacher.

Priaulx's BMW team-mate Bruno Spengler took the overall title from Gary Paffett after beating the Briton to first place in the race.

"I am so proud to have been part of this amazing programme," Priaulx said.

He was part of the first BMW team in the German Touring Car championship for 20 years as the manufacturer took the team title.

"What BMW Motorsport has done this year by beating its rivals in its comeback season is nothing short of amazing," he added.

"Well done Bruno for winning the drivers' title and BMW Team Schnitzer the teams' title."
