Irwin completes trio of fifth places at Cadwell

Glenn Irwin completed a trio of fifth place finishes at the Bank Holiday British Superbike race weekend at Cadwell Park on Monday.

The Carrickfergus rider was fifth in Sunday's opener aboard the PBM Ducati and followed it up with similar results in the 12-lap sprint race and the second feature event over 20 laps at the Lincolnshire circuit.

Ryde was the victor in the two feature races on his OMG Racing Yamaha, with series leader and defending champion Tommy Bridewell taking the win in the sprint.

Honda Racing rider Bridewell led from start to finish and came home just two tenths of a second ahead of Ryde at the chequered flag.

Lee Jackson made up the podium places, with his MasterMac Honda team-mate Charlie Nesbitt in fourth.

Ryde had a 0.7 seconds advantage over Bridewell by the conclusion of Monday's second race, with Jackson, Nesbitt and Irwin again following them across the finishing line.

Bridewell leads the championship standings on 294 points, with Ryde second in the series on 275, Irwin on 234 and Iddon on 231.

Andrew Irwin was ruled out of the weekend's race action after a practice crash on Sunday.

Todd second in Superstock race

In the 15-lap National Superstock 1000cc race, Joe Talbot brought his Honda home 0.24 seconds ahead of Cheshire Mouldings BMW by TAS Racing pilot Davey Todd, with Tin Meave third.

Luke Mossey and Matt Truelove occupied fifth and sixth, followed by Northern Ireland riders Scott Swann and David Allingham.

Another NI rider, Simon Reid, crashed our on lap four of 15.

Todd heads the championship on 221 points, with Talbot hot on his heels on 220, then Swann on 155.

Eugene McManus was third in the feature Supersport race, behind Luke Stapleford, who made it a double after his win on Sunday, and runner-up, Dubliner Jack Kennedy.

Stapleford assumes the lead in the championship by a single point from Kennedy, with Currie a further five points in arrears.
