Kerr replaces injured Skinner in BMW BSB team

Donegal's Richard Kerr is to replace the injured Rory Skinner in the Cheshire Mouldings BMW team for this weekend's British Superbike round at Brands Hatch.
Skinner came off and suffered a broken leg at the most recent round of the series at Snetterton, having secured his first ever race win in the championship just three weeks previous at Knockhill.
Kerr won the National Superstock 1000cc championship in 2023 but has been plying his trade in Moto America's Superstock series this year.
The former Sunflower Trophy winner will ride an M1000RR for the Northern Ireland-based TAS Racing team.
A statement released by the team said that "further rounds will be taken in consideration based on Rory's full recovery and return to racing".
“First of all, I’d like to wish Rory a speedy recovery. As a racer no one likes to be out injured and especially as he has been doing such a great job for the team," said Kerr.
"I’ve known the TAS guys for quite some time and have obviously raced against them in Superstock. I’m also aware of their pedigree and history, so when asked to stand in for Rory in British Superbike, it was an easy decision to make."
The TAS Racing team statement indicated that Davey Todd had been "the number one choice in Rory's absence" but they opted to continue the Yorkshireman's involvement in the Superstock 1000cc series, in which he currently heads the standings.
