Newly-crowned two-time World Superbike champion Toprak Razgatlioglu has won the final race of the season at Jerez.

The Turkish rider, who clinched his second title on Saturday, defeated Ducati's Nicolo Bulega - his nearest challenger in the standings - in an exciting race.

Razgatlioglu became the first BMW rider to win the World Superbike Championship as he added to the 2021 title he won with Yamaha.

Italian Bulega, who won Saturday's opener and the Superpole race on Sunday, was hunting down his rival for the lead of the race with four laps remaining.

However, the race was red-flagged due to track conditions following an engine problem for Philipp Oettl's Yamaha.

BMW's Michael van der Mark was classified in third ahead of Andrea Iannone and GB's Alex Lowes, who was competing in his final race for Kawasaki.

Northern Ireland's Jonathan Rea finished ninth in the final race to bring an underwhelming first season with Yamaha to a close.

The six-time champion ended the season in 13th place in the standings, with the 37-year-old's best result of the campaign a third place at Donington Park.

Ducati's Alvaro Bautista, who won back-to-back titles in between Razgatlioglu's two championships, crashed out of the race.
