Guernsey Panthers captain Nena Copperwaite says the team have been shocked to find out they have secured a place in the end-of-season play-offs.

The Panthers finished third in Division Three South, but restructuring means they will now get the chance to fight for a place in Division Two.

"It's been a surprise but a nice one," she told BBC Guernsey.

"Everyone's been really pleased - we finished on a high and it would be nice to take that form into the play-offs."

The Panthers will fly to the UK on 30 May, and will take on Brize Jets, Weston Park Blades and Swan Centre for promotion.

"I'd like to think we could hold out own in Division Two," added Copperwaite.

"We've had a challenging season this year with lots of injuries but we've found more consistency now and with players coming back we can only get stronger and better - but we'll find out if we get promoted."
