Manchester Thunder have appointed Adelaide Thunderbirds assistant Dan Ryan as their new head coach.

The 31-year-old replaces Tracey Neville, who left to take charge of England at the World Cup this summer.

Ryan, who is a qualified journalist and sports broadcaster, plays goal attack for the Australia men's team.

"Tracey's had brilliant success during her time and I feel really privileged to be in a position to hopefully achieve more success," he said.

Thunder won the Superleague in 2014 but were knocked out in the play-off semi-finals this year.
