The Netball Super League has sent "love and support" to Leah Middleton after she suffered an injury which saw Cardiff Dragons' game against Birmingham Panthers abandoned.

Dragons were hosting Panthers at Cardiff's House of Sport on Friday, but the decision was taken to postpone the game because of Welsh international Middleton's injury.

"Our thoughts are with Leah, and we're wishing her a smooth and speedy recovery – we're all behind you, Leah," Dragons said on social media.

Netball Super League also posted on social media, saying: "On behalf of the Netball Super League and everyone within the wider netball family, we are sending all our love and support to the amazing Leah Middleton at Cardiff Dragons following her injury in tonight's match.

"We are with you every step of the way."

Dragons have since confirmed that Middleton, 29, is scheduled to undergo surgery.

A Dragons statement read: "Our medical team responded immediately on the night, and Leah is receiving the best possible care and support as she begins her recovery.

"We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their messages of love and support. We know the entire Dragons family is behind Leah and will join us in wishing her a smooth and speedy recovery.

"We will share further updates when appropriate."

Former Surrey Storm player Middleton, who can play as a goal keeper or goal defence, is one of Dragons' co-vice captains.

Though born in England and raised in Australia, she made her Welsh Feathers debut in 2024.
