Leading Irish national road racer John Burrows has announced his retirement from the sport.

The Dungannon rider made his decision public following the funeral of his close friend Trevor Ferguson, who was killed in accident at the Manx Grand Prix last month.

Burrows completed a parade lap with Ryan Farquhar, who has also retired, at Sunday's Killalane road races.

Burrows, 40, is a former top 10 finisher at the Isle of Man TT.
