Pat McGibbon has been appointed as first team coach at Dungannon Swifts.

The former Manchester United defender, who was capped seven times for Northern Ireland, joins forces with new Swifts' boss Darren Murphy at Stangmore Park.

McGibbon was manager of Newry City for 16 months before stepping down in July, and also lost out to Eddie Patterson for the position as Glentoran manager.

The 39-year-old's first game with his new club will be a league match at home to Ballymena United on Friday night.

The Swifts will be without suspended defender Terry Fitzpatrick.

Also on Friday night, Ballinamallard United entertain Lisburn Distillery at Ferney Park.
