Down have suffered a major setback with the news that forward Dan Gordon has suffered another fracture to his foot.

Gordon sustained the injury while training with his club on Monday night and will now not face Derry on 2 June.

The Loughinisland clubman has been sidelined with the injury all year and had only recently returned to action.

He had played for the club in their Down ACL Division One defeat at the hands of Clonduff last Friday night and came through the game unscathed.

On a brighter note for the Mournemen, influential midfielder Ambrose Rogers is set to be fit for the Ulster SFC first round tie with the Oak Leafers at Celtic Park.

Rogers made his comeback after a knee injury in Longstone's defeat to Rostrevor on Monday night, after taking part in training with James McCartan's squad in recent weeks.

McCartan hopes wing-forward Danny Hughes can win his recurring fitness battle ahead of the Ulster SFC clash.
