Alastair Seeley wins second Supersport race at Oulton Park

Alastair Seeley won a thrilling second British Supersport race at Oulton Park and now leads the championship by two points from main rival Stuart Easton.

The Carrickfergus rider was involved in a race-long battle with the Scot but managed to overtake the Yamaha rider on the final corner to claim victory.

The Gearlink Kawasaki rider's advantage after 16 laps was just 0.06 seconds.

Seeley had to settle for second behind Easton in race one, the sprint event, at the Cheshire circuit on Sunday.

Billy McConnell completed the podium in both races, while Glenn Irwin had a sixth place in race one, but crashed in the second race of the weekend to lie 10th in the series standings.

Antrim's John Simpson was 16th and 13th in the 600cc events.

"I had to try to break Stuart's winning streak so I went in hard on the brakes into the final bend, got the best drive I could up the inside and thankfully I made it," said Seeley, after his race two success.

Clogher's Keith Farmer fell on the first lap of the first Superbike race after starting from fourth place on the grid.

The Kawasaki rider fared better in race two, with an eighth place finish, to lie eighth in the standings.

Alex Lowes and Shane Byrne were the race winners.

Portadown man Marshal Neill took a very creditable sixth position in the Superstock 1000cc class and Magherafelt's Paul Jordan was seventh in the Motostar event.

The next round will be at Knockhill in the middle of June.
