Tyrone captain Stephen O'Neill has won the Player of the League award, despite not playing in the final due to injury.

O'Neill was recognised by his inter-county peers after some superb displays in the spring when he scored a total of 3-18 in eight league games.

The 33-year-old missed out on a league final appearance against Dublin when he stood on a ball during the warm-up in Croke Park and twisted his ankle.

He will be fit to lead Tyrone in the Ulster SFC tie with Donegal on 26 May.

Kilkenny's Lester Ryan was also named on Monday as the Player of the League in hurling.
