Michael Dunlop: Ballymoney rider has broken wrist put in plaster

Michael Dunlop's participation in the Ulster Grand Prix is in doubt after he had his broken wrist put in plaster on Monday.

The Ballymoney rider is believed to have aggravated the injury while racing at Armoy on Saturday.

The original injury was sustained in a crash at the Southern 100 on 11 July in which he also suffered a broken pelvis.

Dunlop won both Superbike races at Armoy as he returned to action for the first time after the crash.

The 30-year-old posted an image of himself on social media with his arm in plaster on Monday, saying: "The Doc reckons that's the end of race season for this year. Think again Doc..."

Dunlop, who was walking with the aid of crutches, beat Derek Sheils and Derek McGee to secure his eighth successive 'Race of Legends' win at Armoy.

The Tyco BMW rider had earlier beaten Sheils and Sweeney to win the Open Superbike race, with the two victories his 18th and 19th around his home circuit.

Dunlop is a six-time Ulster Grand Prix winner but has not topped the podium at Dundrod for six years.

This year's race week runs from 7-10 August.
