Career highlights

Jonny Brownlee is making a rapid rise to the pinnacle of the sport, following a similar trajectory to his older brother Alistair. Jonny emulated his sibling by becoming the under-23 world champion in 2010, a year after taking silver at the World Junior Championships. He won silver behind Alistair at the latest World and European Championships.

Did you know?

He finished second to brother Alistair at the Madrid leg of the World Championship series in June 2011, the first time that both brothers had medalled in an international triathlon. It was Jonny's third consecutive silver medal in the World Championship series.

Other career

Brownlee lives and trains with his brother and has sacrificed his own race in the past to help him, most notably at the 2010 European Championships when he pushed hard on the bike ride to whittle down the leading pack; Alistair went on to win, while a shattered Jonny faded to 38th.
