China's Wu Minxia won her second gold of London 2012 and the fourth of her Olympic career as she secured victory in the individual 3m springboard.

Wu, who was victorious in the synchronised competition alongside He Zi last weekend, traded blows with her team-mate throughout the final.

He led after the second round, but Wu hit back to score 414 points and win her sixth Olympic medal in all.

Mexico's Laura Sanchez Soto completed the podium with bronze.

It meant there was no medal for Italy's four-time Olympian Tania Cagnotto who qualified for the final with the second highest score, but finished fourth.

The 27-year-old was trying to following in the footsteps of her mother, Giorgio Cagnotto, who won four Olympic medals in a career spanning the 1970's and 1980's.

China's one-two takes their diving medal tally to six, having won every event at London 2012 so far.

Wu's victory saw her equal her former partner Guo Jungjing's Olympic medal total.
