Youth Olympic Games athletes from areas of Africa affected by the Ebola virus will not be allowed to compete in combat sports or in the pool in Nanjing, China.
The Games start on Saturday, but the ruling will only impact two athletes from Guinea and one Nigerian.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) say that there are currently no suspected cases and the risk of infection is "extremely unlikely."
Athletes will undergo regular checks.
The measures were implemented after the IOC and local organisers of the Youth Olympic Games consulted with the World Health Organization (WHO).
A statement from the IOC added: "In accordance with WHO guidelines the Chinese authorities are fully prepared should any outbreak occur."
Sierra Leone and Liberia had previously opted not to travel to China.
