South Korea's Jin Jong-oh battled back from near-elimination to win his third consecutive Olympic gold in the men's 50m pistol with a Games record.
Jin, who won in 2008 and 2012, dropped to the bottom of the standings with a poor ninth shot before finding his accuracy to score 193.7 points.
Vietnam's Xuan Vinh Hoang, who made history on Saturday by winning his country's first gold in the 10m air pistol, scored 191.3 to earn silver.
North Korea's Kim Song-guk won bronze.
It was the first time South and North Korea have shared an Olympic podium since 2004, and the country's respective competitors congratulated each other with a handshake.
