Helen Glover says she and Heather Stanning want to "destroy" the field when they can on the road to Rio 2016

Olympic champion Helen Glover says she and Heather Stanning want to go unbeaten until Rio 2016, where they hope to defend their Olympic title.

Glover and Stanning won World Cup gold in Aiguebelette, France, last month in their first international race together since the Olympic final at London 2012.

The duo will pair up again for the season's final World Cup regatta in Lucerne, Switzerland, from 11-13 July.

"We want to destroy the field when we can," Glover told BBC Sport.

"You can have ups and down as a crew and there will be younger crews who will make a huge improvement over two years, just like me and Heather did ahead of London.

"But Heather and I are ambitious to be unbeaten for two years."

The women's pair will once again be Britain's top boat and gold medal favourites in Lucerne, which is the last regatta before August's World Championships in Amsterdam.

The men's four of Andy Triggs Hodge, Alex Gregory, George Nash and Moe Sbihi - which won gold at the European Championships and in Aiguebelette and also triumphed at Henley on Sunday - are Britain's leading contenders on the men's side.

Hodge said: "In Lucerne, I think you'll see a very solid crew.

"But at the World Championships I think you will see what we can really do."

Olympic champion Kat Copeland and Imogen Walsh are the top crew in the lightweights.

The duo, who only paired up this season, won European bronze before securing their first World Cup gold last month.

"I'm really excited about this partnership," Copeland said.

"We are at a very good level already and still have two years until Rio."

The men's eight has been tweaked for Lucerne with Tom Ransley and Constantine Louloudis returning to the crew and Paul Bennett and Matt Gotrel moving over from the pair.

Meanwhile, the women's lightweight quad is a new boat for Britain and includes Charlotte Taylor and Eleanor Piggott, who won World Cup silver last month.
