Hull KR appoint Ben Galea as skipper

Galea is two games shy of 100 appearances for Rovers

Hull Kingston Rovers have named Australian second row forward Ben Galea as their captain for next season.

The 33-year-old, who won the NRL Grand Final with Wests Tigers, revealed on Twitter that he was "very proud and honoured to lead this great club".

He takes over the skipper's armband from fellow Australian Micky Vella, who retired at the end of last season

Galea is in the last year of his contact with Rovers - having signed a one-year extension earlier in July.
