Widnes Vikings have allowed hooker Scott Moore to leave the club with immediate effect.

The Super League outfit released a statement confirming the news on Thursday, but have not disclosed a reason for Moore's departure.

The 24-year-old left St Helens to sign a three-year deal with the Vikings at the end of last season.

Moore was one of three Widnes players suspended for a breach of club discipline in February.

He made his last of his six appearances for the Vikings in Monday's 38-4 home defeat to Bradford.

A club statement read: "By mutual agreement, Scott Moore will leave Widnes Vikings with immediate effect. The club will not be making any further comment on this matter."

Moore's departure comes just 48 hours before Widnes play his former club in the fourth round of the Challenge Cup.

He made his Super League debut for Saints at the age of just 16, but found himself behind Keiron Cunningham and James Roby as third-choice hooker and spent time on loan at Castleford and Huddersfield.

It was during his time with the Giants that he played in a Challenge Cup final and made his England debut against France.
