Hull Kingston Rovers in 'talks with investors'

Cash-strapped Hull Kingston Rovers have confirmed they are in talks with possible new investors.

The Robins lost half a million pounds last year and chairman Neil Hudgell and vice-chairman Rob Crossland recently reviewed all the club's operations.

However, chief executive Mike Smith told BBC Radio Humberside they had not received a takeover bid.

He said: "Takeover is a strong word. At the moment we have investors keen to see what they can bring to the table."

Rovers have been linked with a possible takeover by Hull City Football Club owners Assem and Ehab Allam.

Last season, Assem Allam put £1m into the club because he said he had done nothing for east Hull, where Rovers are situated.

However, sources suggest the Allams are not considering further investment at this stage.
