Wakefield coach Agar convinced Poore on Super League move

New Wakefield signing Justin Poore has credited coach Richard Agar with convincing him to move to the Super League.

The 27-year-old prop signed a two-year deal with the Wildcats in October after leaving NRL side Parramatta Eels.

He told BBC Radio Leeds: "He was the reason I signed because he made me feel very comfortable.

"Richard watched some of my games last year and he was telling me things my coach there wasn't even seeing."

Poore added: "I spoke to former Bradford coach Mick Potter and he was impressed by the structure of the club here too and that was a good feeling.

"I needed something different and I'm lucky to be in a position where I don't have to worry so much about money. This is just about me enjoying my footy."

Poore's father is from Southampton which means he could play for England at international level.

The Australian is not ruling out switching allegiances with the Rugby League World Cup coming up next year.

"I'd consider it if there was an opportunity, I'll put it like that," he added.

"It depends on how I was feeling at the time I guess, you never say never."

Wakefield were the league's surprise package last season, winning their final seven matches in the regular season to finish in the final play-off berth.

They start next season's campaign with a trip to Bradford Bulls on 3 February.
