Leigh upset against Wigan Warriors unlikely - Paul Rowley

Leigh head coach Paul Rowley has played down his side's chances of causing a Challenge Cup upset against Super League leaders Wigan on Friday.

The Championship side will renew their local rivalry with the Warriors in a fourth-round tie at the DW Stadium.

Rowley told BBC North West Tonight: "They're like a big sleeping bear and we're not going to poke them with a big stick. We'll approach it quietly.

"We're going for a good time and to put in a good account of ourselves."

The two clubs, separated by just eight miles, have not faced each other since Leigh were relegated from Super League in 2005.

And Rowley believes Friday's game will be an excellent challenge for his players.

"It [the draw] was positive news for the club," he added. "First and foremost the financial benefits are pretty good, but it's a chance to play against the team I consider to be the best in Super League. They're red hot on form at the moment.

"For our younger players it's a new experience and a really exciting challenge for them, and for the senior players it's a time to go back to where they've been before and have a final crack on the big stage."
