Huddersfield Giants have signed Kyle Wood from Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.

The versatile 24-year-old half-back joins on loan until the end of the season and then on a three-year full-time deal.

As a result, the Giants have released 20-year-old Brad Dwyer back to Warrington Wolves.

Giants MD Richard Thewlis told the club website:, external "Our long-term plan was to strengthen the options in the halves and hooking area."

Wood has made 15 appearances for Wakefield this season, scoring three tries.

Thewlis continued: "With Kyle being out of contract at the end of this year, it was natural that we would target him once the relevant deadlines had passed and we have known for a while that he would be a Giant next year.

"His form has remained good and we believe that there are even more improvements to come as he matures and gains more experience which only time can bring.

"His early arrival is a real boost to us all ahead of the back end of the season."
