Wakefield Trinity Wildcats captain Danny Kirmond has agreed a contract extension through to 2016 with the Super League side.

Kirmond, 27, has made 55 league appearances for the Wildcats since joining them from Huddersfield Giants in 2011, initially on loan.

The forward told BBC Radio Leeds: "It's great to get the deal done because I love playing for the club.

"It's a great place to be at the moment and I'm looking forward to the future."

He added: "Wakefield showed a lot of faith in me and gave me a chance when things weren't really going my way at Huddersfield and I wanted to repay a bit of that faith and show some loyalty. It wasn't a difficult decision to stay.

"This is probably the best season I've had in my career so far and that's down to hard work and playing in a good attacking side."
