Peter Gentle: Hull FC part company with head coach

Hull FC have parted company with head coach Peter Gentle after two years in charge at the KC Stadium.

His side lost 16-0 to Wigan in August's Challenge Cup final before their season ended with a 76-18 play-off loss to Huddersfield last week.

They enjoyed top-six finishes in the two seasons the 47-year-old was coach.

"The club would like to place on record their gratitude to Peter for his efforts, hard work and dedication," said Hull FC owner Adam Pearson.

"He helped to progress the club on the field in his two seasons in charge."

Gentle still had two years to run on his deal with the club, having signed an extension to his initial three-year contract in September 2012.

He said: "In the past 24 months, the club has made significant strides in performance, training facilities, recruitment and player development at all levels, making the top six in each campaign, and reaching the Challenge Cup final at Wembley this season.

"Injuries, including long-term absences, have hampered our plans on the field, especially in the Cup final and the final play-off match this season."

Former Hull FC player and current assistant coach Lee Radford is favourite to take over.
