Marwan Koukash's wife set to make Bradford Bulls bid

Salford Red Devils owner Marwan Koukash says his wife's interest in taking over at Bradford Bulls is "genuine".

Koukash confirmed that his wife, Mandy, was in talks to buy the Bulls on his Twitter feed on Wednesday.

The Odsal side are currently in administration and had six points deducted last month.

"It's absolutely very genuine. We are almost there with the proposal. The bid is going to be submitted on Thursday," he said.

"We're as confident as we could be at this stage. I am being told our bid is very good. There is substance behind it.

"There is no conflict of interests whatsoever. I see it as promoting the sport even further.

"Mandy wants to run the club herself, although I don't think she will be fully hands on. I am sure she will bring in other people."

Kuwait-born Koukash took over at Salford in January 2013 when the club were in danger of going into administration.

Since taking over he has often been seen as a controversial figure within the sport.

He sacked coach Phil Veivers five games into the season to replace him with Brian Noble and has called for Super League's salary cap to be abolished to allow teams to sign 'marquee' players.

Koukash has also changed the club's name from Salford City Reds and this week he was fined £1,000 by the Rugby Football League for misconduct.

The Bulls are currently bottom of the table with minus-two points after entering administration for the second time in two years.
