Super League: Huddersfield Giants 10-36 Salford Red Devils
- Published
Salford Red Devils scored six tries to beat Huddersfield Giants despite ending the game with 12 men.
The visitors led 12-4 at the break as Rangi Chase and Matty Ashurst crossed, with Joe Wardle scoring in reply.
Mason Caton-Brown increased the lead after half-time with a solo effort, but Salford prop Lama Tasi was then sent off for a late tackle on Danny Brough.
However Theo Fages, Greg Johnson and Kevin Locke ran in tries after the red card to seal a comfortable victory.
New Zealand full-back Locke also kicked six goals on his debut for Salford, just four days after arriving in the country.
Larne Patrick scored a late consolation try for the Giants, but they never threatened a comeback.
Tasi was dismissed after a tackle on Brough which forced the hosts' captain off the field with a head injury.
But despite their numerical disadvantage, Salford moved to within two points of 11th-placed Wakefield with only their second victory in 11 matches.
Salford coach Iestyn Harris:
"Kevin is a world-class player and the reason we brought him to the club is because he can do things that not many other players can do.
"He looked composed and controlled for a bloke who only got off a plane on Tuesday. He's only had one training session with us and I'm sure he will get better and better.
"There are enough games left for us to challenge the eight. It's still in our hands.
"We've got a long way to go. There are a lot of bad habits at the club we're gradually changing into good habits."
