Andrew Henderson to become London Broncos assistant coach

Henderson has previously had spells at Salford City Reds and Castleford Tigers

London Broncos have appointed Sheffield Eagles forward Andrew Henderson as new assistant coach to Joey Grima.

The 35-year-old hooker, who is also head of youth development for the Yorkshire club, will join the Broncos on a two-year deal in November.

"I am looking forward to what I believe will be a bright future for London.

"It is a fantastic opportunity for me. We want the community and fans to be proud of the London Broncos," Henderson told BBC London 94.9.

"The plans head coach Joey Grima wants to execute are really exciting and ones I want to be part of.

"With the quality of personnel we are looking to recruit, we are going to create an honest, hard-working culture with ambition and a want to win."

Former Scotland international Henderson has previously played for for Salford City Reds, Castleford Tigers, Gateshead Thunder, Barrow Raiders and Balmain Tigers.

He joined Sheffield Eagles in 2010 in a player-youth coach role.

"He's a skill-based coach who has come up through a similar development pathway as myself, so we understand each other on a number of levels," Broncos head coach Grima said.

"He really understands where I want to take the club over the next two years.

"In the last couple of seasons he's played for Gateshead and Sheffield, which is going to give me outstanding knowledge on the players we're likely to be playing against next season."
