Leeds Rhinos ended a six-match losing streak in Challenge Cup finals

Hundreds of Leeds Rhinos fans have gathered in the city to celebrate the club's victory in the Challenge Cup.

The Rhinos beat Castleford 23-10 at Wembley on Saturday to claim the trophy for the first time since 1999.

It ends the club's six-match losing streak in the final of the competition.

"The fans have turned up in their numbers as they always do," said Rhinos half-back Danny McGuire. "It's a pleasure to be able to parade the trophy in front of such loyal fans."

The 31-year-old, who scored one of Leeds' four tries in the final, added: "It's very special to take the trophy on the bus and bring it back to Headingley and definitely up there in my career highlights.

"If you look at the record, to get to the final is a massive achievement, we've just not been able to perform on the day.

"We talked about being clinical and playing well as a unit on Saturday and I think that's what won us the game.

"We're really pleased to perform like that especially at Wembley. Everybody's thrilled. To finally be able to play well in a Challenge Cup final and get the trophy is a massive relief."
