Warrington Wolves: Chris Riley and Trent Waterhouse to leave

Second-rower Trent Waterhouse is in his third and final season with Warrington Wolves

Warrington Wolves have announced that forward Trent Waterhouse and winger Chris Riley are among the players who will leave the club at the end of 2014.

Waterhouse, 33, has made 78 appearances for Warrington so far, including the club's 2012 Challenge Cup final win.

Riley, 26, has spent much of the season on loan at Wakefield, for whom he scored a hat-trick against the Wolves.

Jordan Burke, Danny Bridge, Gavin Bennion and James Saltonstall will also be released by the club.

Hooker Michael Monaghan's retirement at the end of the campaign was announced in May.

Australian Waterhouse joined Wolves from NRL side Penrith Panthers in 2012, while Warrington-born Riley came through the club's academy before making his first-team debut in 2005.

Head coach Tony Smith told BBC Radio Manchester: "Their contributions here have been enormous for a long time and very much appreciated."

Meanwhile, Wolves forward Simon Grix has undergone surgery after fracturing both his tibia and fibula and could miss the start of next season.

A further injury concern for the club is that second-rower Ben Westwood may miss the end of the current campaign with a torn calf.
