Lee Mossop: Wigan Warriors re-sign Parramatta Eels prop

Mossop was restricted to only three appearances at Parramatta because of shoulder trouble

Lee Mossop has rejoined Wigan Warriors from Australian side Parramatta Eels on a three-year deal.

The England prop moved to the NRL team for a "significant six-figure fee" in 2013, but struggled with injuries and made just three appearances.

The 25-year-old was released from his contract in west Sydney and was free to re-sign for the Warriors.

"Wigan was always my first choice and I am really happy that we have been able to agree a deal," said Mossop.

"I was at the Grand Final last month cheering the boys on and hope to be back there again next season."

After coming through Wigan's academy, Mossop made 111 appearances for the club and scored nine tries.

He was twice a member of Challenge Cup-winning sides and also won the Super League Grand Final in his final season at the DW Stadium before heading down under.

But the Cumbria-born forward was unable to make an impact for the Eels because of injury and had to undergo surgery on both shoulders, which ruled him out of the England squad for the recent Four Nations tournament.

"As soon as I heard that he might be available, I asked Kris Radlinski and Ian Lenagan to see if it was possible and I am grateful that they have done just that," Wigan head coach Shaun Wane told the club website.

"I am pleased also for Lee showing loyalty to the club. Having seen the fans welcome Joel Tomkins back earlier this year, I am looking forward to seeing them give Lee a great reception at the DW next season."
