World Club Series: Wigan 'must improve' for Brisbane Broncos

Wane believes that Wigan have only performed in patches so far this season

Wigan Warriors head coach Shaun Wane has said his side must improve for Saturday's World Club Series game against NRL side Brisbane Broncos.

The Cherry and Whites drew 22-22 with a man advantage against Widnes before coming from behind to beat Huddersfield in their opening two games this year.

Wigan were double winners in 2013 but lost in the Grand Final last year.

"The main thing is that we turn up and put our best performance on - I'm sure the players will do that," said Wane.

"We do need to improve. That was two poor performances, we're not finding that consistency in our game yet."

Wane's team take on the Australian side Broncos on Saturday in the first year of the expanded format of six teams - three from Super League and three from the NRL.

Brisbane, who finished eighth in the NRL last season, have only brought 18 players for the game but do include a number of internationals such as Corey Parker, Sam Thaiday and Anthony Miford.

"They can do what they need to do and I'm sure they've bought enough key players to want to win this game," Wane told BBC Radio Manchester.

"We need to make sure that we prepare really well and give them the respect they deserve and make sure we're on the ball.

"I'm looking forward to it. We have a history at this club with the World Club Challenge and to get such a great club, with a great coach it's going to be a great atmosphere.

"I just want to make sure we perform at our best."
